Somaliland commemorates international anti FGM day and Launches anti FGM policy. Yesterday the House of Representative also announced FGM bill under way for this year. Today over 400M women are living with devastating impact of FGM. Every year 3.5M children are at risk of FGM. Billions of USD is invested in treating FGM complications. FGM is one of the major child abuse and violation of women rights. The impact of FGM is across the entire life of a women, devastating impact from severe pain to mental health crisis to fistula, infertility, death. Why all these to our beloved girls? It is time to stop all four types of FGM. No excuse for child abuse!! It is a math to stop FGM, you, me convince five people continue multiplying by five until FGM is eradicated. Let us join our hands and give young girls to meet their maximum potential. @unicefsomalia @SaeedWafaa @mleagleton @tannisthadatta @erbil_runner

#UNICEF with support from our generous donor @KfW_int is running child sensitive social protection program in Odweine. Today along with Government we awarded the best father contributed in accelerating birth registration and service uptake. So nice to see all children born received their notification and other 3664 children received their certificates in 6months. Cash transfer and recognizing father role is a fundamental tool for increasing acess to services. @unicefsomalia @SaeedWafaa @erbil_runner @tannisthadatta

@Foreverychild UNICEF in collaboration with Governor and Mayor office of Odweine district awarded the best fathers. The first super dad told us he collected his children birth certificates, attend his wife to the health facility etc until he received 12 points over three months. The director of the central MCH told us in his 24years experience for the first time he received 20mothers out of 30 with their husbands. The last three month the director says Family planning increased by 5%, Birth registration increased to 100% and vaccination uptake increased by 20%. This is exciting. Parenting is the most critical factor for child development @SaeedWafaa @unicefsomalia @erbil_runner @MillhiaK

We are not alive today because of our powers or money but oxygen that nature gave us. Oxygen is life saving. About 25% of young children death us from lack of oxygen. This is strategic investment with thanks to our donor @r6theglobalfund. Today we celebrated international day of PWD to amplify the leadership of PWD for an inclusive and sustainable future. A young girl, Hayat was our inspirational speaker. Hayat talked about how she is thrilled that she is finally going to school with UNICEF Support and met a lot of children who are like her because other kids used to bulling her in the streets she talked about her hobbies that she loves cycling, foot and basket ball and she enjoys going to the deaf club every Thursday. She requested everyone to learn the sign language so she does not need any interpreter. What a challenge to all of us.
