Happy Monday, friends.
Given all the changes on this platform, this may become a less & less reliable way for you to get news and weather updates from us.
I'll keep posting for everyone still here, but I'm also trying to increase posting on Threads if you want to find me there.
Wow. Here's some new video of Monday's EF-4 tornado in Barnsdall taken by Tyler Dahl.
We're told the folks in the video had been taking shelter in the district's underground locker room, but came outside and got video once they knew the tornado was past their location.
@NewsOn6
Governor Stitt tells News9 they’ve been “on top of this” with energy companies since earlier this month and they didn’t think it was going to get this cold.
The Hampton Inn in Bartlesville took a hit from tonight's tornado. Reports are they lost most of the building's roof. So far it sounds like most everyone there is okay from what we've heard initially.

This dude stuck with OKC from the very beginning to the very end. Can't ask for anything more than that. What a hell of a ride.
Thank you for 11 incredible years,
@russwest44
. You're the best, Brodie.

Heard an unfathomable stat after the game, I believe it was from
@TRowOU
:
OU’s defense has been on the field this season for 90 more minutes than the offense. The defense has played a full GAME AND A HALF more than the offense.
Like… how is that even possible.
Happy Monday!
After ending the 1st quarter up 28-0, Oklahoma had the ball 12 times (excluding the final kneel) and managed to run just 45 offensive plays and punt 10 times.
No possession after the 1st quarter lasted longer than 90 seconds of game time.

@grcalcaterra
has a permanent place in Sooner history with this phenomenal catch.
Todd Blackledge’s “oh my gosh!” is one of my favorite parts of this play/call.
Our helicopter is flying over Barnsdall this morning, and the scenes are heartbreaking.
Major damage being seen now in the daylight. Quite a few houses destroyed and debris strewn everywhere. Pilot Dustin Stone notes the southeast side of town was hit very hard.
@NewsOn6
And when you pause the video: Yes, that sure looks like a horizontal vortex wrapping around that large tornado.
That horizontal vortex is like a small horizontal tornado getting sucked into the large parent tornado. Typically, only the most violent tornadoes do this.
For those who might be new to Oklahoma severe weather and aren’t super familiar with the difference between a Watch and a Warning, here’s a helpful meme:
I mean, the cold front is power-housing into Norman right now at the exact same time Brent is landing.
You can't make this stuff up. It's a

Stoplight has been toppled over in east Tulsa near 31st St & 145th East Avenue from storm tracker John Durkee.
Lots of reports of damage from this powerful squall line.

More than 125 educators have begun their walk from Tulsa to OKC! TPS Superintendent
@deborahgist
is among them as well.
SkyNews 6 HD is flying overhead! We've got a live feed up right now on the

Oh my gosh. This is absolutely terrifying.
@kmbc
showing what looks like a mile wide tornado moving through the Linwood, KS area just to the west-southwest of Kansas City.
Deadly, life-threatening situation.

11:54 PM: Outdoor warning sirens are now sounding in Tulsa.
We do *not* have a tornado warning right now, but the sirens are being sounded for the potential of major wind gusts of 80+ mph with the squall line moving in. Stay inside in safe shelter!

A fireball in the sky early this morning! We've had quite a few reports of a bright flash and even a loud boom around 3:30 AM.
Patricia Stanton caught the meteor on her security camera in Broken Arrow. ☄️

The entire morning team wore orange this morning for Clint Boone.
I believe saw orange on all of our Tulsa TV stations this morning too. Thank you guys. 🧡
@RonTerrell
@GregABedard
I mean, it sure looked like there were plenty of Texas fans (and maybe even some Texas players?) applauding Alo during that as well.
But, please... go on, Greg. 🙄
Can't tell you how much we appreciate all the kind words our local TV weather teams have received... but those need to go tenfold for
@SPiltz
& the entire
@NWStulsa
team.
They are the absolute cream of the crop. Tireless workers who are beyond invaluable to all of us in E OK.

briefing emergency mangers about the upcoming severe weather and flooding potential for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Numerous rivers remain at major or record flood across northeast Oklahoma and west-central Arkansas.
The structure of this tornado warned-storm that's been hugging the Kansas/Oklahoma state line has been impressive.
Chris Ashton sent in this picture from east of Copan looking toward Caney, KS a little while ago.

My parents live in Norman, not too long a drive from Tulsa. My mom almost always asks me to text her when I’m leaving to go to Norman, and also to text her when I get back to Tulsa from Norman. It’s the kind of thing I know I take for granted.
Days like today remind me not to.
25 years ago today, Twister was released! This movie inspired a whole new generation of meteorologists and weather enthusiasts.
And for an Oklahoma boy who grew up to be a meteorologist, the fact that my birthday falls on the release date just seems too perfect. 🌪
Well this is a WELCOME sight after another wild night. (the sunshine, at least... not those crazy high river levels)
Good Sunday morning on what I believe is approximately the 87th day of May.

If you're a journalist covering today's events in Tulsa, please stay safe.
If you're going to the rally to see the President, please stay safe.
If you're going to a peaceful protest, please stay safe.
Praying for a smooth day in this city that I love.
Check out this video!! This is a fire whirl that spun up at a prescribed burn yesterday in Wann, OK. Thank you to Helen Holloway for sharing this with us!
Winds were very light yesterday (and somewhat light today) which is why there were a lot of prescribed burns ongoing.

Words I never imagined typing: Our co-worker and friend
@ClintBooneWX
passed away suddenly Sunday.
We only had a short time with him at
@NewsOn6
, but he had already become a great friend. I know his friends at
@KJRH2HD
&
@KTULNews
are hurting greatly too.
Out of ICU beds at a hospital in Tahlequah.
At one point this week, Tulsa hit zero on available ICU beds.
Some hospitals in OKC have hit zero on available ICU beds.
Our exasperated healthcare workers are begging us to wear masks and do our part.
When will enough be enough?
This is the best look I’ve seen so far of this morning’s tornado in Quinton, OK.
Thank you to Hayley Myers for sharing this video with us!

@NewsOn6
WOW. Twin tornadoes on the storm on the north side of Crescent! This is north of OKC and west of our viewing area.
Watching this coverage from our friends at

This is some awful news in the Tulsa TV world. A legacy TV station has just been gutted.
I am so saddened for the talented journalists at KTUL who lost their jobs today. They do not deserve this.
Some great video from
@darrenlstephens
of a powerful supercell that produced a large tornado just east of Tescott, KS in the ~7:50pm-8:00pm timeframe. *no audio*

Weather team, assemble!
HUGE thanks to the awesome folks at Nothing's Left Brewing Co. for throwing the
@NewsOn6
team a thank you party after our crazy severe weather season. We were blown away by this insanely nice gesture. Thank you guys so much for treating us so well!
How eerie is this: Even after visible satellite display fades due to loss of daylight, you can still see the fires raging into the night on the "Natural Color" display via

Wow. This might be the best picture yet of today's severe storm!
Shout-out to Bryan Martray in Broken Arrow for sharing his amazing photo!

This is like the perfect night for OKC.
Amazing tribute & reception for Russ. And Russ has a great game. But the Thunder are cruising. CP3 had some FUN & shut it down.
Oh yeah, and Perk is regaining legend status by feuding with KD on Twitter. What a night.
Good Guy Alert! That's our chief

Just now getting around to post this, but... OH MY GOSH.
The sunrise over

a little while ago was absolutely jaw-dropping. 🔥

And incredible words & leadership this morning from Mayor

as well.

And just to be clear, I'm no power/utility expert. I'm not gonna claim to have *any* experience with what goes into these decisions with utility companies and the overall power grid.
But this huge cold snap was very, very well forecasted for a long time.
Saturday Storytime:
Stopped at a stoplight, I look over and a young girl in the car next to me waves and signals that she wants to play Rock-Paper-Scissors. I happily obliged, after which she soundly defeated me while wearing a big smile.
More of this please, humanity. ♥️
EVERYONE REMAIN CALM: It's snowing in Tulsa. ❄️
It was a straight-up stampede of folks going to the windows here at the studio to see the snowflakes, lol.
