Neuropixels probes, introduced 3 years ago, started a new era in large-scale electrophysiology. Today I'm happy to share a big team effort developing Neuropixels 2.0. We can now record stably from 10,000 sites in freely-moving mice. Thread -

@DrewBHeadley @anne_churchland @IntlBrainLab To clarify, a neuron is tested at multiple possible refractory period durations - this does not mean that it must have RP duration > 10 ms to pass. This is a new algorithm and we're working on a standalone paper to explain it in more detail. Sorry for the confusion.

I had a problem with the form settings but it is fixed now - if you tried this before, please try again! We need input on Neuropixels Ultra - if you do in vivo electrophysiology, please take ~1-3 minutes to share your perspective with us!

We’d love to hear your thoughts about this probe: would you use it for your scientific question? What do you like or dislike? A final production decision has not been made so your input here is critical. Survey:

@HameroffSt57357 @anirbanbandyo I don't think so - we record at 30 kHz. But I may not be fully understanding what is meant by 'dielectric resonance'; I haven't read that paper before

Pinpoint is a product of the amazing work of Dan Birman and Kenneth Yang! Thanks also to our great collaborators at @AllenInstitute and @IntlBrainLab on this project.
