Did you know: St John’s has a remarkable collection of late medieval liturgical vestments and embroidery, including a rare set of vestments for the pre-Reformation High Mass. They are some of the finest examples in England, but these treasures were almost lost forever.

This extraordinary manuscript is a collection of Ethiopic miracles written in Ge‘ez, when it was already mainly used as a liturgical language. Bound between simple wooden boards and still stored in its bespoke satchel, it looks quite ancient, but dates from the 19th century only.
