As @Riverford have highlighted, nearly 50% of British fruit and veg farmers fear they will go out of business, with supermarket behaviour cited as a leading factor Gov must seize the opportunity provided by the upcoming food strategy to deliver a fairer deal for all farmers.

Land use framework will need to turn aspirations into reality “We welcome today’s launch of the consultation on a strategic approach to managing land use in England, which is long overdue and marks significant progress. Just as we take a strategic approach to delivering the homes, offices and shops we need as a society, we need a strategic approach to delivering the types of nature and climate friendly farming and the habitats that we need to avert the nature and climate crises and ensure food resilience. We have been calling for a land use framework for years to give the clarity and confidence that nature-friendly farmers, land-users and progressive businesses so desperately need to invest in the future of our countryside." Act now to fix our broken food system - read our response to the House of Lords recommendations in the #Food #Diet #Obesity Committee 'Recipe for health plan' We’re pleased to see the report recognises that we need: • A food environment that makes healthy food the easy choice for everyone • A whole system intervention to make significant dietary improvements • A cross-governmental approach to our food system • To use school food quality, provision and procurement to address child poverty Crucial steps towards a healthy food system, but we also need to see government tackle over consumption of #ultraprocessedfoods by making #minimallyprocessedfoods accessible and affordable to all Read our full response here:

@RB_Citizen @GreenJennyJones If you're comparing different types of intensively farmed meat, perhaps - but industrial poultry units are not sustainable at all.

The damage to our health, the financial burden and the decimation of pollinators all point to the same conclusion - this is unsustainable IFOAM are calling for support for farmers to embrace methods like organic, that don't harm us and the planet 👇

But input bans alone are not enough – farmers need support. What we must see now is help and guidance for farmers to find alternative, agroecological solutions. Investment in research and peer-to-peer learning and training is desperately needed to help farmers end reliance on chemicals and take a whole-farm approach to nature-friendly solutions, as our organic farmers already do. #SaveTheBees
