Good morning to everyone except people who think you can make our academics and researchers change their expert opinion about something by complaining to us on twitter π.
people writing that the university should fire me because I said Nigel Farage was a disgrace comparing #BlackLivesMattters, a movement of peace and justice, to the Taliban and because I said the statue of a slave trader belonged in the sea, thanks guys, will let the VC know.

When you don't like @KateWilliamsme opinion as a historian and Professor at @UniRdg_History so you demand to speak to a manager, but the manager backs his colleague 100%. Academic freedom and respect for experts? We do love to see it.
Thanks for letting me know Kate. Sometimes, free speech and academic freedom are just too much for some people. Not for me. Carry on.

We've been asked why we're making a political statement by providing free meals. To clarify: this isn't about politics. This is about kids who are hungry. As a university, we have resources we can use to help. It's not rocket science, it's being a good neighbour.
Times are tough. More of us are struggling to make ends meet and the pandemic isnβt helping. So as part of the national campaign started by @MarcusRashford, weβre working with @ReadingCouncil and @BFfC_Child to make sure no child goes hungry this half term. #EndChildFoodPoverty

People on social media who are criticising a parent, one of our colleagues, for sharing a picture of a childβs drawing should, quite frankly, get a grip on reality. This is a drawing. By a child.
What a delightful little boy you are raising there, Adam. And how lovely it is to see a father being so proud of his son. π.

Thanks to whoever took a little bit of time out of their day to help someone who needed it. Life can be hard - the least we can do is look out for each other.
I was upset earlier today and a stranger who works for the uni saw me sat crying on the phone and asked if I was okay, then got me a cup of tea and gave me a hug. I couldn't be prouder to be a student at @UniofReading, little acts of kindness go a hell of a long wayβ€οΈ.

Yesterday, we shared this piece by @KateWilliamsme. Prof Williams is an expert in royal history. She's written extensively on the topic. You might have even heard some of her commentary at the start of the Sussexes' interview. Our job is to help her share that knowledge.
