I watch that game tonight and from a referees point of view that is exactly how it should be refereed. I then think why do we end up with over officiated games in SL. It's how they are reviewed and coached in my opinion. Let the games flow, pick out the majors.

Does this happen in any other sports where by different rules apply? Rugby League should be one set of laws/ guidelines wherever you play in the globe. It’s just ridiculous all round for Wigan to adjust back and the match officials.
Understand that the head contact rules WILL be relaxed for Saturday's World Club Challenge after Penrith met with the RFL today.
Panthers wanted assurances about the guidelines, they've been told the recent tightening of rules won't apply this week.

I am all for a safe sport, however the illegal tackles and video is confusing. All 3 illegal are below the armpit but defender is upright? What is it, below the armpit? Or you can’t be upright as a defender? Feel sorry for the officials who have to police this. More pressure.

For me, this is the officials taking things too far. I was there at the start of the obstruction farce and we got so much wrong due to it being drilled into us until things settled down. This is the same here. Over analysis things you start seeing that’s that aren’t there.

Sad news. I got into RL around 1988 just as Fred was finishing up. His excellence stood out above the rest I recall. Then, as a young referee he invited me to the Grade 1 training and meetings. He made you feel you belonged there. A legend who will be sadly missed. RIP Fred 🙏

are saddened to hear of the passing of former Referee Fred Lindop MBE. A Grade One referee from 1967-88 he refereed the 1970 World Cup Final and 5 Challenge Cup Finals to name a few. He will be remembered as one of the greatest ever Rugby League officials. RIP Fred.
