Because of this very issue, we are now requiring student teachers with communicating to parents on a weekly basis so they get an idea of what’s to come when they get their own classroom. @donntobin I used to invite my parents to visit class when I taught HS because I wanted to them to see that it was different from when they went to school. In 8 years, only one parent took me up on the offer to attend class.

My son’s 20th Gotcha Day is August 18! We are celebrating by cooking traditional Kazakh food.
It’s July 29th, which means it’s my #gotchaday!! My parents adopted & took me home 55 years ago today. I love them both so much and I couldn’t be more thankful for this life they’ve given me! ❤️ if you were adopted, do you also celebrate your gotcha day?!

@MrBiehlsPE I used to invite my high school parents to class every year too. When we started hiking, canoeing, and skiing, I had lots of parent chaperones! It was great for them to see that PE was so much more than what they remembered.
