I don’t think the perpetual virginity of Mary is a necessary doctrine. However the early church all the way through the reformers believed her to be one, it’s a modern idea that she isn’t.

Sure, I get it, but the problem is, we aren’t Apostles. We cannot read the OT and point to Christ at will. We must only do so when we have clear proof that the text is pointing to or ultimately fulfilled in Christ lest we are guilty of gross allegory.

That is the point of the Lord’s Day; a change of the sabbath of creation to the new sabbath of recreation.
