What can I say in 140 characters that would matter? I am a guy with an opinion. And you know what they say about opinions...Opinions are my own, of course.
I respect the right of everyone to hold their own views on any topic. I will defend with my last breath the right of my fiercest critic to denounce me on my deathbed.
Because the only way this works is if all speech is free.
If you are abandoning
@PennStateFball
because of adversity, just remember you don’t get to enjoy the return to glory. 2005 was amazing because we were part of the struggles that preceded it. Real fans now the joyous heights can only be defined by having seen the depths.
#WeAre
I find hardly shocking that
@ESPN
left out the most important part of the agreement yesterday: the University confirming that Freeh’s discredited opinion was never accepted at any time by Penn State.
We all know that Joe acted properly - his action are now
@NCAA
rules.
Chris Rock acknowledged what anyone not completely in the tank knows: Jussie Smollet faked a hate crime, and by so doing belittled the victims of actual hate crimes.
10 years ago, about a year after Dad died, Franco came to see my mom and gave her one of the crystal 40th anniversary footballs. Seeing it and the note today was a reminder of how lucky we were to have him. So generous and humble. So giving and so so good to my mom.
We miss you.
Just stop for a minute today and marvel at a college kids - including lots of fraternity and sorority kids - going out and raising $10.6M for pediatric cancer research. The grand total over the last 20+ years is $167m.
That’s real money. That’s
@Thon
. That’s what
#WeAre
.
And in 2005, we had the lead in every game when 60minutes of play expired. Unfortunately, we had one game go for 60:02 and that last :02 cost him a 6th perfect season.
Something
@coachjfranklin
and the staff haven’t gotten enough credit for this season:
Covid containment. While every other B1G school seems to have major issues, Penn State is doing something very very right.
It’s funny how quickly fanbases get spoiled.
I never thought a 10-2 record with a big bowl to go would be so “ho hum” to our fans.
That’s a good year. One to enjoy. A defense to remember.
I was blessed with a mother who’s heart is so big she become mom and grandma to an entire University.
Happy Mother’s Day mom. From all the people you’ve helped over the decades.
One thought on this year’s lions: this team is a year from being dominant. This is the year you learn to make the plays that would have salvaged the mistakes today.
This is 1980, or 1993. Enjoy the ride, this group of young men are going places the next two years.
In the great game, I am a game player, not a rule maker. So when I hear GOP officials stating that they can never win again without ending mail in balloting, I cringe.
As long as the rules are known in advance and fairly applied, you find a way to win. Or get off the field.
The title of “greatest offense in CFB history” is owned by 1994 PSU.
17 guys from that offense played NFL football. Two FULLBACKS off that team went pro. 3 of the top 9 picks in the draft.
@hheilweil
@RealSCorleone
@Acosta
Yes he did - when he legislated with a pen he illegally circumvented congress’ express authority granted it under Art. I.
I found a goldmine today, including the original audio in 1973 when Joe turned down the Patriots, etc. I also found a ton of old TV interviews that are like a time capsule.
Not sure how to post it but will definitely look to do so.
Worth noting: when Roe took away the state’s ability to regulate abortion, the majority opposed abortion.
But they didn’t riot. They didn’t demand to destroy our government or pack the court.
They went to work. They won elections. They changed minds.
Worth noting.
My father was a good man who did more than most in a vague and confusing situation with a former employee. And he was crucified for not being a vigilant. By guys like Lauer and Rose.
Guys, it’s a college football game. Kids playing a game.
Ease up. There will be a tomorrow. Every season has its ups and downs. If the outcome was known in advance, why play.
Enjoy the highs and lows. Be glad we can attend and Cheer the boys.
That’s the fun. It’s a game.
If you are thinking about shit talking a college kid because of a game, grow up.
You couldn’t tie your shoes live on national TV without screwing up.
These are college kids. Just stop.
There is nothing better, at any college, than
@thon
at PSU. Not diminishing anyone else - all philanthropy is a good - but something has to be best. And it’s Thon.
Tens of millions of dollars. 50 years of kids dancing “For the Kids.”
#WeAre
proud. So very, very proud.
My generation kinda had the last great run. We had no massive wars with a draft, we got to go to college pre bubble bursting and pre 9/11, we didn’t have cell phones and cameras everywhere we went so we could be stupid, and we didn’t have social media.
It was F’ING great.
There is an effing documentary about Nebraska 1994 that just came out. Calling them one of the most dominant teams in CFB history.
They weren’t the best team in that YEAR.
We would have beaten that team like a drum in ‘94.
The world is full of crappy, ugly, tragic stories this weekend.
Then there is
@THON
. 46 hours of the very best humanity has to offer. Go read about it. Go see it. Then go give money to support its mission to end pediatric cancer. Its easy and its For the Kids.

Schiano literally was told nothing and there has never been even an allegation that he did except by morons like this.
And - in case this asshat isn’t aware - that’s also my mom’s name on the library.
Maybe he should learn a fact or two before saying such stupid things.
Schiano's role in enabling Sandusky at Penn State is beyond dispute but when one considers that Paterno's name remains on the most prominent building at Penn State, the main library, it isn't unreasonable to surmise that Rutgers could get away w/ hiring Schiano as football coach.
Republicans: First woman on the Supreme Court. First African-American Secretary of State. First African-American woman Secretary of State.
Oh, and ended slavery.
Don’t be a bigger ass than you already are. The dream isn’t the province of either party. It belongs to the people.
Democrats: The first Catholic President. The first African-American President. The first Woman President(stolen). Now possibly the first openly Gay President. Democrats: The party that realizes The American Dream.
Given PSU has no "protected rivalry" games in the B1G, we should schedule Pitt annually - play them at home in years with 4 B1G home games, make it the last game of the year.
I miss playing Pitt every year. It would be a hell of a lot more fun than playing Delaware.
@AOC
In six months you will be what I know you to be: a far left irrelevant freshman back bencher.
Socialism isn’t a winning national platform. You “scare” me as much as a nerf gun - it can be annoying, but it isn’t gonna do any real damage.
Thoughts:
1) lots left to play for and more to be excited about;
2) team came to play - so proud of the boys;
3) if you can’t enjoy a season that isn’t perfect you are doomed to unhappiness.
Before we all get into the offseason tradition of bemoaning every bad beat and demanding this that or the other, can we just say thanks to the players and staff for all their hard work this season? I enjoyed watching this team and I know what the men sacrifice.
#WeAre
One of the hardest things for me in this mess is seeing all the things my kids are missing. At 47 one year is a lot like another. At 16? You only get to be 16 once.
Every year, as Penn Staters, we get a chance to see a miracle in a contentious age: thousands of young people coming together to help kids with cancer.
@THON
defines the very ethos of

Blaming Trump for business shutdowns and the resulting economic disaster - when Biden has basically said he would close MORE, not less - is some next level gaslighting.
Trump didn’t close PA.
Northwestern just fired the only coach who ever viewed the job as his destination job.
On a report they commissioned that stated he had no knowledge.
Because of media pressure.
On the “should have known” standard.
When we beat OSU in 13 days it’s going to take the sting out of yesterday. Because we will get a second shot at the Gophers.
Spare me your “We can’t beat OSU.” You probably didn’t think we could lose yesterday. Nothing is written in stone.
Looking back on the season, you have to be happy. The problem with hindsight is the “oh if only’s” - If only we’d beat Minny, etc.
But 10-2. A NY6 bowl a lock. Big win over the Ganders.
In August, that seemed like a reach.
So proud of the team.
#WeAre
Very briefly, no matter where you are on the cancel/let them play debate, can we acknowledge the outstanding job the PSU players, staff, coaches did meeting and exceeding safety standards?
@coachjfranklin
and the boys have a right to be frustrated. No matter your take.
I take it most of my fellow lions are into their third glass of hemlock by now...but fear not. All is not lost. Great success is often forged in failure.
We will be back. This is a weird year.
One thing I hate as a PSU fan these days - our fans acting like we are still trying to “break through” as an historically elite program. We did that in the 80s and now we are top 10 all-time in wins: more than USC and EVERY SEC team except Bama (who is a whopping 15 games ahead)
The PSU 1994 offense scored 47points a game and had near perfect run/pass balance and did it whole taking every snap from under center.
17 guys off that offense played pro ball. 17.
5 first rounders.
Best offense in CFB history.
Everyone needs to stop freaking panicking about the team. This is a weird year. Get behind the team and enjoy the weekly respite from a scary world.
The winning streak starts in 6 days.
Ok so I think what I will do - because in addition to the JVP interviews and audio I have a ton of game footage - is I will post a little more each day until we get to the season. Something to take the edge off as we all get twitchy waiting fo hear...”ladies and gentlemen...”
Checking out of social media for a while for obvious reasons. I am not going to be watching the film. I am sure at some point I will, but no rush as it focuses on a period that was as painful as any in my life. Reliving a fictionalized version of it is not something I relish.
Holy father of football, if tomorrow, the first day of fall, could be one of those magical saturdays where bothe Notre Dame and Michigan get beaten on national tv, almost all of America will join in song and praise thy holy name.
With the “regular” season in the books, hats off to
@coachjfranklin
, the staff and the team. They took the virus seriously and utilized protocols to play safely. No major virus issues. No lost games.
And that’s before we get to the winning streak.
There isn’t enough space to describe all the amazing things my Mom did for my family growing up. Along the way she became a mom to so many other Penn Staters - players she tutored, people she mentored, students she fed during covid…
She’s Penn State’s mom.
Go easy on Allar y’all. We didn’t have great production from WR and even still he lead the team to 10 wins by letting his defense choke the life out of the opponent’s offense and by taking care of the football.
Whether he’s the guy is irrelevant- he’s a kid who played his best.
Why are people so afraid to think for themselves?
Why do you need restaurants closed to not go there is you feel they aren’t safe?
Leave things open. Arm the public with facts. Let them chose for themselves.
It’s call a free society.
Not for nothing, but in 1998 Penn State Police referred Sandusky to the DA's office and the DA determined there was insufficient evidence. How
@CNN
makes that Penn State's fault is a mystery...
I am forever positive about the future of Penn State football.
I am also a fierce defender of our glorious past, which included B1G titles, National Titles, a killer Jan 1 bowl win rate and a graduation rate the envy of all.
Those two things can exist together.
Emmert's
@NCAA
defense is that the allegations were widely reported. You mean like having the police and DA investigate? Because that wasn't good enough for you when judging Penn State.
Kerry Collins set the single season record for passing efficiency in 1994. It’s been since broken.
Wanna talk balance? We threw for 270/him and ran for 250/game in 1994. And we sat the starters the equivalent of 3 full games.
That team was soooooo good.
Over the past few years more than a few fans were ready to run Pat Chambers out of town. Ironically, they’re the ones thumping their chests about our current success the loudest. But for those of us who saw this coming and stood by him, this is all the sweeter.
Enjoy the ride.
Btw, all this talk about the Rose is good an all, but can we settle this once and for all:
Other than the game setting, the Rose is a lousy bowl game. The town doesn’t care, LA is a shithole, and expensive.
Give me the Fiesta every day of the week and twice in 1986.
Auburn fans talking smack about the Whiteout have never experienced anything like it.
It’s unique, overwhelming, and awesome. Enjoy it. Just expect to lose.
Even if we lose to OSU you are talking about a 10- Win season and a big bowl - and returning a ton of key players.
We play in the toughest conference in the country and the toughest division. Yup, that means almost every year will have a loss.
Running the table is hard.
