Cottage garden in a sleepy part of Wales & the beasties that visit. Environment, climate change, recycling, wildlife, great outdoors & mindful garden therapy💚
Today at my parents, the cat walked in and sat down in front of the tv to watch The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse.
He watched it all.
Only thing is - they don’t have a cat 🐈⬛
Ambling down the lane picking blackberries with Turnip following me, singing the song of his people as chat to him about spud blight, 3 eggs in my hand from the chickens.
Suddenly dawns on me “this is how women ended up burned as witches Sarah” as I spot the neighbour looking 🤦🏻♀️
Hey
#HomesundertheHammer
could you stop promoting plastic death carpets on your program? At least change the language - stripping all life out of the garden means you’ve not got a garden just a death hellscape.
Looks tacky as hell too.
All my potatoes have blight.
It’s taken my outside tomatoes too.
My courgettes haven’t fruited.
My French beans failed.
My runner beans will be just one picking?
The cabbage have failed.
The broccoli have failed.
As did the radish.
Even the cosmos hasn’t flowered.
🤷🏻♀️
Victorian Whitby jet beads. So loved by the owner they’ve tried to repeatedly re thread and fix them.
So discarded by the charity shop they asked 50p for them 😕
I’m making a crochet star shaped blanket as a gift and I can’t get the maths to work so it’s not lying flat, it’ll always drape. That’s ok though isn’t it?
It’s pure wool so I don’t want to unpick it as the yarn is fiddly to use 😣
Watching the Dads Army film on ITV and all the tea cups and china are wrong.
For starters, Royal Albert Country Rose wasn’t made until 1962.
And this is the problem with knowing anything about antiques or vintage goods, period tv gets ruined 😂
And then as though to push that ancestral message home of “stop looking wierd Sarah” the other neighbour sees me as Turnip decides to climb onto my shoulder and look like he’s whispering in my ear 🤦🏻♀️
I joined
#gardeningtwitter
at the end of May & honestly it’s the best social media interaction I have ever had.
I’m really thankful that there are others out there that love their gardens & wildlife and it’s not just me 💚

PLEASE - for the love of Humanity stop promoting Plastic Lawns!
It causes mass microplastic pollution that enters the water system and kills life.
It leaches toxins into the soil killing life.
It’s the asbestos roof tile of our time.
Just stop 🛑
Just as a side note - it’s not my first rodeo, I’ve been growing plants and veg plants since childhood.
And this is a huge organic plot.
I also have no hedgehogs and very few birds. Everything is wrong out there.
“Had to resort” 🙄🤦🏻♀️
Because they simply had to have microplastic pollution and carcinogens leaching close to their home.
This stuff needs to be banned.
The women in the post office queue gave me a blow by blow account of what to expect in the menopause today “you’ll know you’re in the menopause when your husbands breath annoys you”.
Great 😳 something to look forward to then.

talked about the butterflies in his garden & Alison Hammond said she didn’t see butterflies anymore in her garden….then said she had
#plasticgrass
& bit of my respect for her died.
Plastic grass kills wildlife. That’s it, that’s the truth, stop using it.
@Shitlawns
He sat on the pier and let people tell him he was a good boy 🥰 free snuggles 🥰
He then got in the car and broke wind so badly it could have hospitalised small children.
Dogs are great aren’t they?
While we’re at it, the sheer amount of ticks I’ve seen has been unbelievable. No birds to eat them & damp cond.
It’s incredibly frightening as I have Lyme disease from a tick bite, & I missed the window of treatment because “you can’t get Lyme in south Wales” well you can now.
There was a loud meow this morning from the back yard and in he came. He looks emaciated & I think he’s been locked in somewhere. He’s also quite grumpy for the usually placid Turnip but I think it’s probably fear making him upset.
But he’s alive which is excellent ❤️
The garden when we moved here and the same view now.
Got rid of all the Japanese knotweed by hand, planted native hedging and invited wildlife. No chemicals used here, completely organic.

I know that
#houseplants
are now fashionable but I’ve had them since I was 18 and moved out. They are a constant source of joy. This
#AfricanViolet
though is so pretty I had to share it 😍
Half a square metre of

can absorb a huge one kilogram of carbon dioxide. That's more than a small forest and is why I never, ever kill moss in the lawn!

I’ve had three packets of cosmos seeds fail😢
What can I grow now from seed that will flower this year? (Apart from nasturtiums which I already liberally throw everywhere like confetti).

looking at you guys 👀 for inspiration 🌱❤️🌱
@JaneyGodley
We had a stray turn up in the spring that was eating the hedgehog food we put out for our rescue 🦔.
He ended up being called Turnip because he slept in the Turnip patch and “turned up”.
He’s so loving, and best mates with the dog now.
The apples from Mams tree are beautiful, she said she couldn’t give any away to our favourite elderly neighbour because they’ve got blemishes.
Upsets me that we’ve all been programmed to think only perfect is beautiful. Also - they taste wonderful 👌🏽
My wonderful Eiry passed away in my arms on the way to the emergency vets today. She came to live with us after I lost my baby, & while it is incredibly painful now, being able to love her for the whole of her life was worth it. Even though she takes a part of my heart with her❤️

because of some family set backs I’ve not started anything, no seeds, no tubers not a sausage. It’s predicted to be very cold here tomorrow so I’ll put it off until Wednesday to start anything but am I too late? Am I the only one left? 🥺
Turnip’s owner leaves him out in all weathers. 😕
I’ve built him a cat box in the wood store. He’s very snug and dry in there but honestly if you’re going to have a cat - look after them 🥺 I know he has owners that want to keep him so legally I can’t do anything.
Nobody told this

that size isn’t everything and it’s the performance that counts.
Tiny flower considering it’s over 12ft 😂🤷🏻♀️

if you’re a lover of gardens, the environment, wildlife and the odd rescued animal; if you hate plastic, want to act on climate crisis and love the bees then follow me & I’ll follow back 💚🌱
I looked at my garden today, dejected, half flooded. We had a family issue in the autumn that meant I didn’t get my dahlias up nor all my bulbs planted. A panel on the greenhouse has also blown.Someone give me some

help me out 😕
@hellolanemoore
I respond “why would that be funny?”
Which is usually replied with “it’s a joke”
To which I respond “it can’t be, jokes are funny…and I’m not laughing”.
Would highly recommend in the correct situation 👌🏽

wildlife is safe here, water dishes, hedghog food, vixen and cubs fed, regular bird food and flowers just for the bees 🐝

You’re not being lectured too. He’s not long left on this Earth but you decide to show up your parents with poor manners. You could have simply scrolled on, but no, not you.
Spray carnations are a very underrated flower.
Stop seeing them as a 1970’s flower display filler and value them for the excellent long lasting colourful blooms that they are. Gorgeous
Spent yesterday afternoon quite unexpectedly in hospital so had a lie in and this is what I can see from bed.
Sometimes he looks like such an old soul I forget he’s still a puppy.
*Leaches toxins into the soil and environment.
*Creates microplastic pollution that enters the water system and poisons us all.
*kills biodiversity.
*adds to surface flooding.
*Linked to childhood cancer.

If you were me and you’d put some fancy Dr Marten boots (cream with tapestry roses) “somewhere safe” because you knew you wouldn’t wear them for a while, where would you have put them? 😬
