If you’re wondering why Hartford (our state capital) is barely being covered right now, it’s because I left due to low pay and many of the issues this union seeks to correct And they didn’t replace me. Unionizing this newsroom is vital to local news Support @CTnewsguild

Here's why I want a union: I've watched way too many talented reporters leave their jobs because they couldn't afford life. Reporting shouldn't just be for the privileged or the impoverished. Also, teamwork makes the dream work.

Update on the cat: We brought him to the vet and he has a broken tooth and a concussion but is otherwise healthy! He’s been laying low in the bathroom away from the claws of our other cats. He’s named Augustine after the church where we found him

An important, thorough investigation from @jacquelinerabe — In my hometown in CT, 9 out of 10 Section 8 vouchers are expiring before they can be used. She explains the many limitations on the vouchers including geographic barriers, high market value and other red tape.

Disheartened to see an email from @QuinnipiacU stating “Thankfully, infection with omicron tends to be mild…” “Mild” doesn’t mean mild for everyone. People are facing long-lasting, life-altering symptoms. Students, don’t act like it’s “mild” this semester.

I am continuing to follow the plight of tenants at Wedgewood in Bloomfield. I visited their apartment yesterday to see the problems, including a basement that’s been flooded since March. The smell could not be captured in this article. My update @insider_ct ⬇️

My hope is that with @Simone_Biles ' decision to leave the competition will come a normalization of walking away from things that are detrimental to our mental health without the stigma that we are "giving up." Prioritizing mental health isn't settling for silver. It's winning.
