Had the recommendations from the Cass Review been implemented when I transitioned, in particular the recommendation of waiting until the age of 25, I would never had transitioned. I grew out of gender dysphoria by the age of 22, but had my genitals amputated by then.

A 5-10 years wait might not sound like a lot for most people, but that is the difference between being mutilated and living fulfilling lives in healthy bodies for many detransitioners. I don't think the Cass Review goes far enough, but its a good start to end this travesty.

Every day I wish that I was allowed to live through my identity confusions as a child and young adult without being irreversibly harmed. Like the studies show I eventually grew out of my confusion by the time I was 22, but at that point my genitals were already amputated.

The abuse and harassment I have received for talking about my experiences as a detransitioned person has come exclusively from trans-rights activists. I have never received death threats from gender-critical campaigners. They are always supportive. Food for thought.
Yes, an unknown number of kids are trying to rebuild their lives after people who should have known better operated on them and gave them hormones on extremely shaky evidence, but the bad guys are the people mentioning this and wanting it to stop.

Getting a neovagina removed is proving to be a difficult task. Most surgeons do not want to do it and its unclear if it would even be covered by insurance. Doing it out of pocket is an incredibly expensive endeavor ranging from $50,000 to $100,000.

Intelligence and wisdom are not the same. I graduated at the top of my class in high school and college and scored in the 97th percentile on the MCAT. I still did not have the wisdom as a child and later young adult to avoid transition. Wisdom comes with age. Let kids grow up!

When I transitioned the message from the community was clear - family members that don't support your transition must be cut out of your life. In retrospect as a detransitioner, I am beyond glad that I never cut out any family members from my life. Transgenderism is a cult.

Detransitioning is considerably more challenging than transitioning. If you are young, coming to terms with the loss and ways you have limited your life can for many be an unclimbable mountain. The further you got into your transition the more difficult it becomes. So sad..😢

That is the most disturbing part about the trans community. I was a teenager when discovering online trans spaces, and many of the people in those spaces were middle-aged adults socializing with children. Many of them were obvious perverts as well.

My surgeons do not know that I detransitioned, but my endocrinologist and primary care physician know because I have to be on hormones for life. Both were very pro-trans before taking me on as a patient, but having seen my journey I think they are rethinking their positions.

I think for many detransitioners what motivated them to detransition was the realization that gender ideology is nonsense. What made sense to you at 16 as a naive and immature teenager no longer holds up to scrutiny as an adult with more life experience.

People are not wrong when they argue that the pre-frontal cortex, and thus your ability to reason and think critically, does not develop until around your mid-twenties. It's blatantly absurd to allow young people before this age to radically alter their bodies by amputation.

I think that is likely. I do not believe that gender dysphoria is a meaningful psychiatric diagnosis, but rather a symptom of untreated psychosocial pathology. Most cases of gender dysphoria in youth is fueled by anxiety, OCD, BPD, autism and internalized homophobia.

Knee surgeries seek to address an actual medical need. They are performed to improve function of a joint that has become dysfunctional following disease or injury. Removing reproductive organs does not serve any purpose beside making the patient sicker and reliant on medications.

I does sort of resonate with me. Had I been born a decade earlier I would not have transitioned. When I did transition it was becoming more of a social contagion and a community thing that was largely driven by the introduction of social media and online radicalization chambers.
