I don’t know where Rashid’s “Ethiopian sources” are, but they’re clearly not in Lalibella.
Ethiopian sources confirm Lalibela, historic city in Wollo, Amhara State, has been seized by TDF.
Ethnic militias sent to stop TDF advance badly beaten, forced to retreat.
TDF said in control of whole city, including airport.
Big blow for Abiy. He cannot win this war.
Mexico exported $3 Billion worth of avocados to the US last year
Lessons for

:
1. Ethiopia has a great climate for valuable avocados
2. Improve domestic cold chain (most avocados don’t make it to Addis, even to fewer export markets)
3. Decrease time and cost to port

My neighborhood is seen as one of the most “Tigray neighborhoods” in Addis. There have been a dozen or so days of checkpoints and searches over the past few years.
By contrast, this time: there has been ZERO of what you’re describing here.
It always makes me sad when I remember that

“Proudly serving Ethiopian coffee” should headline each coffee cup. A missed opportunity to be an ambassador for Ethiopia’s unique gift.

Selam Gebrekidan is not a traitor. She is also not a mouthpiece. She is a journalist. When people call journalists “traitor” for writing a story about her country of origin that isn’t 100% positive, we enter a dangerous place. Journalists should be loyal to facts, not nations.
Fun fact: The Amharic word for Easter (Fasika) comes from the Aramaic word for Easter (paskha), which is also the origin for the word Easter in Greek (pascha) French (pâques) and Spanish (pascua).
The Hebrew word for Passover (pesach) also is derived from paskha.

That’s photoshopped. And a terrible one. The truck is a different resolution than the background. And different shading. Do you actually believe this is a real photo?

Don’t get me wrong, Ethiopia’s food is great but it’s not “street food” by any reasonable definition.
It’s not eaten on the streets, isn’t sold as take-away, can’t be easily carried, nobody walks while eating.
There seems to have been a rise in kidnappings-for-ransom here in Addis. Such crime was unheard of even a few months ago. Now I’ve heard of a pattern of incidents including targeting joggers and people exifing CBE branches.
Stay safe folks.

I love the communities that gather under Addis Ababa’s doorways during sudden rain.
Wealth, origin, profession — they all become irrelevant in the collective pursuit of dryness. Instead, under the overhang, we find peak Ethiopian hospitality and generosity.

I’m extremely impressed with what Hanna is doing to transform Ethio Post. Far from being a relic, the foundation is being made for a future-pointing institution.

Here’s my issue: if I’m hiring fresh grads in Ethiopia, where they went to high school is a better predictor of aptitude than where and how well they did at university. That means, for many people, campus was a neutral or even net negative impact on their growth.
I think that is a question that shall be answered first before complaining that there is no skilled youth in the market. It is like when a teacher says, ‘There are NO students in the class after the teacher boycotts 20 sessions and then appearing on the 21st session’. 8/8
