@AlexSaliri @willanselme @catholicpat Political views are prudential matters. You can disagree with the Pope or the Church.

@TheAFShirt @TheCalvinCooli1 The first 5 books of the Catholic Bible are also the first 5 books of the Torah: Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Leviticus, Numbers. God dictated these 5 books to Moses, word for word, on Mount Sinai.

Pre-conversion Augustine: "“Please God, make me good, but not just yet.” Augustine's conversion story: "Despite his immersion in secular philosophies, particularly Neoplatonism and Manichaeism, Augustine experienced a profound transformation in 386 CE. This conversion was influenced by the prayers of his mother, Monica, and the preaching of Ambrose, the Bishop of Milan. The moment of conversion is famously described in Confessions, where Augustine recounts how a divine voice urged him to “take up and read,” leading him to a passage in the Bible (Romans 13:13-14) that prompted him to abandon his life of sin and embrace Christianity. Saint Augustine:

Catholics are taught to pray for the deceased as if they are all being purified of the minor vestiges of sin in Purgatory so they can be pure and holy when they join the Father who is pure and holy in Heaven. The reality, however, is that many people reject God and go directly to Hell because of the sins of the flesh.

@CoramDeo1950 @BornAgainMissy Protestants don't have Apostolic Succession so they don't have the 7 Sacraments that Jesus Christ instituted in His Church, the pillar and foundation of the truth. The Biblical Basis of the Sacraments - Cool Catholics

@TommyBombadill0 @NotAwesomeGabe @sicolol @s4m31p4n @GuyofPentecost In the OT, the holy fear of God was good enough to send you to Sheol, but only the love of God and your neighbor can get you to the Heaven that Jesus opened up with his Sacrifice.

@RonLee06762580 @Uranswer1981 @adelethelaptop `The Catholic Church has had more than 40 antipopes or bad popes in its 2,000 year history. Bergoglio may very well be the worst one. It has survived each one and has flourished because of the divine promise of its founder, Jesus Christ.

Catholics have the sacrament of confession to put us in the necessary state of grace to receive the Eucharist and be one in Christ and to have Christ in each one of us after we separate from God, willfully or unwilfully, because of sin. Co-pilot: Sin separates man from God as it creates a barrier between humanity and the divine. According to Isaiah 59:2, "your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you". This separation occurs because sin is a violation of God's commands, disrupting our relationship with Him and leading to spiritual death. Ultimately, sin prevents us from experiencing God's holiness and righteousness.

@AvacaJo3 @sola_chad Who's going to Hell? "Salvation is so reassuring and comforting . . . " versus "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. . ."

LOL. Development of doctrine does not mean the latest iteration contradicts the previous doctrine or any part of the deposit of faith. Public Revelation ended with the natural death of St. John the Apostle. St. John Henry Newman was an Anglican priest who became Catholic. Newman identified seven “notes” or characteristics of authentic developments, as opposed to doctrinal corruptions, in his famous work “Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine” (University of Notre Dame, 1989; page numbers below refer to citations from this edition). Let’s examine these characteristics one at a time.
