The TinySeed Millionaire Rate is 43%. Definition: Of @tinyseedfund companies no longer in operation (sold OR shut down), 43% of those founders are now millionaires.💰 This % will obviously change over time. It's still early, and the numbers are still small (~2% of companies have shut down. ~4% have sold). But this is yet another reminder of how resilient and insanely valuable SaaS companies are. Personally, I find this number incredible. Much higher than I would have expected, and it brings me nothing but joy knowing the lives that have been changed through entrepreneurship. @tmeire_ @kattrisen Y’all are the best ❤️ I’m glad you enjoy these, they are truly a labor of love (I.e. a lot more work than a typical podcast episode, but I love the end product we produce once a season is done). I’m 3 or 4 episodes into season 5 now 😉

AWeber used to do it years ago. My gut is since it's not a widespread pattern, that it's not going to be optimal. When you have a free plan you want to cast as wide a net as possible, as you want to take advantage of the virality. Adding friction will greatly reduce your viral coefficient, thus rendering freemium ineffective. But that's just an educated guess 😉

If I run a SaaS company I provide an API for paying customers. He’s predicting a new kind of API will be made available for AI agents. This is not for big content websites, it’s for apps that let you book travel, track something in a project management tool, send marketing emails, etc. where you want your customers to be able to access you through something other than the UI.

It’s hard, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it. I have zero regrets about the businesses I’ve sold, and each sale allowed me to work on the next thing I was truly in love with. I cannot imagine still running those companies today. It’s like friends who never left our hometown. Static. Flat. Stale.
