@POTUS @AngryInAGoodWay “Good” enough to pay for healthcare, food, shelter, transportation, and a week or two off every year? And will people with college degrees also be able to get “good” jobs that pay for all that, too?

@abagley75 @alimbrady @nottalking Enacting that law was just as much a decision by humans (and recently, too) as any of the other choices. It’s all within our power to change.

@abagley75 @alimbrady @nottalking The “death penalty” is not the only alternative to being sold to a private contractor. We could have increased the teacher:student ratio, invested in wrap-around services, offered universal pre-K, improved internet and infrastructure, etc.

@JayOrsi @McclaneVeronica @ArkansasBlog @BlueHogReport We need to quit legitimizing school “grades” as though they actually measure anything but the demographics of the students.

@TeacherJudy1 @DerekWBlack Publicly funded & managed services — like public education — cannot be a “monopoly,” because their goal is not profit. However, when states contract with private companies to run schools, administer tests, & sell curricula, THOSE companies get a monopoly if we’re not careful.

Time to get organized and fix these anti-abortion laws. No partner-assisted ejaculations until they are repealed. If it worked for #Lysistrata, I bet it would work for us.

@HawleyMO “Targeted” means it’s carried out against specific individual/s, based on individual characteristics — not a category of people based on their common religion or race.

@JillFilipovic I guess if an individual is healthy with a long life expectancy, and they are still willing & able to work, it’s fine for that individual to raise their retirement age.

@BlakeMontgom38 @rossjam I agree that funding public schools and ending poverty should be our priorities. Doing these things would address the root causes of crime. And after we do them, if we still have crime problems, then it would be fair to say our solutions haven’t worked. But let’s do them first.

@eddiegoodson68 You were a member of the dominant culture where you grew up, and you are a person whose interests the community and the law try to protect. Imagine if you had a gun in your truck and almost everyone in your community was telling you that you were immoral, wrong, and dangerous.

@cathalbrae I think of it as them ALMOST but NOT QUITE saying the important thing: Our social and legislative condemnations of trans youth and adults are creating an increasingly unbearable level of pressure, and this pressure tends to explode into violence, whether directed inward or out.
