Ball State Journalism alum.
Only guy you'll ever interact with to work behind counter offshore, Europe & in Las Vegas.
Currently, professional sports bettor.
Tonight begins a stretch of there being at least one college football or NFL game for 54 of the next 55 days; next Tuesday is the last scheduled day without one until Nov. 22, the day before Thanksgiving...
DraftKings screwed the pooch with "Never Forget" wording on parlay. But FanDuel's decision to not pay out "Dallas Defense" as first touchdown scorer because they didn't word it "Dallas D/ST" despite price being ~same is more egregious. Can't write bets in a market and COLLECT ALL
Job Update: Now working at the Westgate with all of the great guys as a Risk Manager
@SuperBookSports
... Excited for this career move given the talent I'll be able to work with and learn from every day!
(1/2) Career announcement: Today I finished orientation and am now a Sportsbook Supervisor at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Thrilled to join Chris, Tom & rest of our team and hit ground running with training this weekend & to get started later next week...
Thanks for all the warm words earlier. My new job is at
@PlayUp_US
- I am now the Head of Wagering there. We are only in two states currently - but big plans are on the horizon, and I'll be right here (with company & to answer any questions you have for me) every step of the way!
Thanks to everyone
@SuperBookSports
for a great year-and-a-half. Sunday was my last night at Westgate and I'll always appreciate
@JayKornegay
@vegasmurray
@llased
@golfodds
for the opportunity. I think we all learned a lot together! Will announce my landing spot later today...
Career update time: Starting today, I am now at Caesars Entertainment, where I'll be working in the risk room as a Senior Sports Trader with
@The_Junkyard
and his team. I appreciated my time at South Point - thanks to
@andrewssports
and his team for the opportunity & support.
Tim Howard is the goaltender for Memphis in a second division US soccer league game against Birmingham and is down 3-0 at the half. I've never felt so old. 2020 please stop.
If you don't think that this is just a big game to these people to see just how far they can push us all by now, then you and I aren't seeing things the same.
Been betting and booking baseball since the mid-2000s and can safely say that I've never seen numbers this strong. At open, they're good enough for two-way in most games, or wiseguys just leave them alone. Games move, then come back. Beating number doesn't = winning. Tough times.
BROADCASTING HISTORY MADE ON ABC: Announcer just used the word "hook" to describe a half point in a gambling reference. This day will go down in history in American sports gaming annals.
Best play by play announcers in all of sports in my adult lifetime.
1) Vin Scully
2) Doc Emrick
Suggestions are welcome for No. 3 but the top two are CLEARLY the top two.
LOSE SOME! This is the line at my bank at 9:45 am. Tonight will be first time many have needed gambling money since March. Coincidence? No way.
@VSiNLive
Jeff Van Gundy is 100 percent right. If you're going to stop a game to review a play you need to get it right. Old school reffing is a makeup call lets Heat keep it because they missed the foul on Butler.
There are a lot of newbies out there betting on baseball legally for first time. Let me say this once, and please let it sink in: Yankees were 100-62 last year and lost money for you if you bet on them every game. Bad teams win 60 times each year - do not be afraid of most dogs.
One year ago today, I decided to put in my notice at Sportradar so I could pursue a career in risk management in Nevada. It's been a wild ride but I wouldn't trade my experiences at South Point & Caesars for anything & look forward to seeing what next 12 months has in store.
Congrats to two legends who got inducted into the SBC Hall of Fame tonight.
@andrewssports
Chris was my first Nevada boss and
@VSiNVinny
Vinny helped me meet many VSIN/other Nevada people early. Easy to call both mentors; they both helped me tons!
Someone's betting the 76ers like the game's already been played. Starting to think they called Foster from New York and we'll see a fairly friendly Philly whistle today...
DeChambeau is playing a different game than everyone else on the PGA Tour right now. Meaning after the tee shots on most holes, he doesnt have to play any of the same shots as the other guys. He's a quirky character but driver/8 iron out of rough to a 580 yard hole in 2 is crazy.
I'm nearing my 4-year anniversary of moving to Las Vegas. Much of first 2 involved me meeting people in sports media & at books & doing my own betting. Thanks to Chris Andrews & his South Point crew, I got my Nevada gaming license and started my NV career there 2 years ago today.
Those who are steaming the Korean baseball at post really do deserve a special wing in the Degenerate Hall of Fame. I am astonished by it to be honest.
Days like today are the ones you just want to get through - no matter how - as a bookmaker. The informed players have a significant edge based solely on sheer volume of games where we have to put up a number and won't have all pertinent info. That said, let's do this!
My Uber driver today told me she was first nude dancer in Las Vegas in 1962 and had a Mob book to show me her picture to back it up. She's 82 and God I wish she was 32. Most fascinating ride (get your mind out of the gutter) and conversation I've had in awhile.
Djokovic is going to be banned from the US Open. Why? Because he refuses to get a vaccination that the current President of the United States has, even though that man also currently has the sickness that he was vaccinated against. OK, got it. Sigh.
Five years ago today, I got off a plane and it was 113 degrees when I got to my first house in Las Vegas. Still trying to get set up in my next spot while I work from my condo, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything!
This will get lost in football wash tomorrow. 1 October was the worst massacre ever on US soil. On far left was site where innocents were slain. On far right was resort where shooter did his premeditated work. God bless all families involved. We still Vegas Strong, 5 years later!
Some personal news to share before scads of football starting tonight (27 straight nights & 32 of 33): I will be starting as Operational Accounts Manager at SportRadar on Jan. 7. Once I finish training in Gibraltar and London, I'll be based in Las Vegas when not travelling.
It's that time of year:
Starting tonight, 32 of the next 33 days - and all of the next 27 of them - will have at least either a college football or an NFL game on the betting board. Lone day until Nov. 30 without football is Thanksgiving prep day - Weds, Nov. 24.
I guess it's not a coincidence that the USA is about to play in a big soccer game on my friend
@kellyinvegas
birthday. Here's to enjoying the game and the rest of your day of birth!
Hard to believe that the Devil Rays, as an organization that consistently does things well, can continue to trot out this Tsutsugo disease at 1B every night. He's as useless as tits on a boar.
Tonight at 7 only at the
@SuperBookNV
at Westgate Las Vegas, we open up our unique Super Bowl props to the world. Limit $2k on all. Ed and I will be booking them all night until everyone is finished. Tomorrow morning, they go on the app. Hope to see many of you this evening!
I haven't had employment since July started. Now that July's out, figured I'd let those who were unaware know that I'm a free agent & will listen to opportunities for work. In the meantime, see a few of you in San Diego this weekend & others in Vegas for Spanky's party next week!
Here's how baseball works: The Dodgers, who are going to 100 games, lost 2 out of 3 in Pittsburgh to the Pirates, who are going to lose 100 games. If you can't be OK with that as a bettor, then you need to stop betting baseball...
Just found out Allegiant Stadium is gonna be cashless. That's rather ridiculous. If there is any town in the NFL where people are going to have money, it's Las Vegas.
I can't believe I have to actually explain myself to people who still don't believe that you're supposed to foul when up 3 inside of six seconds left at any level of basketball above sixth grade.
When this was happening live, I swore that my first thought was "I hope Kevin Harlan called this for his radio crowd exactly as it happened so I can laugh later." Sure enough, he did. The video is just bonus. Great way to end the night.
If you are on the fence about whether we need robots calling balls and strikes, just turn on ESPN. One game with Angel Hernandez should help you make up your mind. He's a total abomination.
Is there a concerted effort to NOT show the LIV guys? I watched TSN coverage earlier for a couple of hours and I don't think they showed a shot by Koepka or Phil. ESPN just showed his drive on 13, which went way left. So only show bad shots for them? Lmao
Allegiant Air has the naming rights to new Raiders/UNLV stadium? I guess that stadium seats will have to be small and uncomfortable, just like those on Allegiant flights. It's laughable that in our town of opulence & overindulgence that we get a cheap-o airline name on stadium.
I just found my motivation to start getting in shape.
Just met my next door neighbor - not just a neighbor, but the one who lives directly next to me on the top floor.
We had a good chat.
She is very attractive, and I *think* she is single.
Time to get to work...
Holy hell how did they not overturn that review? Clear as day that the Philly lineman was laying on the ball with possession before the Dallas guys smashed it out of him going the other way. Big big swing for several people with vested financial interests in this one.
Don't understand all the love for USC here. Wrong team is favored in this game. Utah really didn't play that well last time, still gashed USC defense. Utah has done well in this event as a dog in past & I'd gladly take them again plus anything. I think they win comfortably.
Best non-working perk of working at the Superbook to this point happens today:
A round of golf with my popps today at Las Vegas Country Club.
Long and straight might be too much to ask given my long golf hiatus; I'll settle for having fun spending time doing something he loves.
I'm sure Brett and John can appreciate me giving Kelly live tutorials throughout while chiming in from time to time, as we continue to indoctrinate her into soccer fandom lmao ... good times were had by most (in our party at least).
To think that Adrian Martinez spent the last 13 years as quarterback at Nebraska and we're actually gonna see him next week still playing in college is a little wild to me.
My boss put up odds in Nevada on a matchup between Charles Barkley and DeMarcus Ware to see who is a better golfer for 54 holes at Lake Tahoe's American Century tournament starting tomorrow and I'm struggling to remember last time people got chance to bet something this great.
If Don Best gives me one more "critical notice" for some AAA baseball game tomorrow, I'm going to officially go on TILT. Nothing to do with AAA baseball is "critical". Figure out a way to fix it. Do better.
Dave Chappelle with a great quote in new special. I'm spinning gears being unemployed now for > 6 months. He helps w/ perspective:
"You have to be wise enough to know when you are living in your dream. And you have to be humble enough to accept when you are in someone else's."
Not one to generally post personal news here, but this is a bit exceptional & deserves mention. My father, Rick Beyers, just finished professional career today as HS social studies teacher after 41 years; was also head basketball coach & athletic director. Kudos & love you, pops!
This has got to be one of the most appalling things I've ever heard and I've been doing this for half my life.
He might as well have told her it sounds like a "lock".
"You know what? Some would call this wagering, gambling; the way you've sold this, I think what it is, is a risk-free investment," said ESPN's Rece Davis after an ESPN Bet segment with Erin Dolan.
If I had a ticket on Jon Rahm to win this tournament, I would probably have to take a considerable amount of time off from betting on any sporting event.
