As soon as I saw this ad, I knew it was only a matter of time before someone who calls themselves Libertarian was going to complain about it and want the government to ban it. You saw a message from a company you don't like, and your instinct is "I need the monopoly of violence of the government to ban these people." Ignore the message Create or support a competitor Boycott the company or industry Pressure the NFL or the network to not carry that ad or ads like them All of those are Libertarian solutions to seeing an ad you don't like because those solutions are rooted in your individual decision-making or the free market. Also, and this is a side point, the HHS Secretary doesn't control what appears on commercials. Being Libertarian doesn't mean, "I'm Libertarian until I see something I don't like and then demand Government protect my precious little eyes from seeing the big bad ad." If this offends you, that's okay. You have that right. I know some contrarians will see this and think I'm defending pharmaceutical companies. Nope, I'm defending free speech. As we all know, when you defend free speech, you have to defend the speech that is unpopular, controversial, or offensive. The government shouldn't regulate speech nor prevent people from regulating speech on their property or platforms. The government just needs to stay out of it. That's Libertarian.
