@DefiantBaptist Excuse me for thinking Joel should not have promoted a list that included Corey Mahler as a list of "fantastic new people to follow"

@DefiantBaptist @Brian_Sauve @HwsEleutheroi Joel recommending a list of people is hardly guilt by association that is endorsement

Declining to be clear on those issues in this format (a single post where you could clear up all possible misconceptions) is a major L and I say this as someone who likes a lot of your stuff. Denouncing those guys (and especially Mahler who doesn't even attempt to hide his vile rhetoric) should be a game every discerning Christian should agree to play at every opportunity that presents itself.

@ADRoblesMedia Agreed. You should look at that list that Webbon endorsed and tell him he is being an idiot for saying people should follow everyone on that list

@SothManigan @mightydudbolt @CNKellerbach >it was implied he would be the successor It was patently REJECTED within the film we are talking about that he would be the successor. They make a point that he doesn't get to put on the hat

@Eschatology22 Webbon being a brother is exactly why we should be concerned that he would recommend some of the people on that list. Pastors have to have better discernment than that. And I say this as someone who isn't a huge fan of Eli either

@BigRock_6 @elimcgowan Recommending a list of "fantastic new people to follow" is stretching the definition of 'guilt by tangential association" very, very thin

No disagreement that it is evil and sinful and all Christians should avoid those circles full stop. I am just resistant to toss out all nuance, which perhaps might be because I just don't know everything about the situation. Questions I would have are this: To what extent is Raw Egg Nationalist's Man's World "porn"? Is this an honest framing of it? Does it market itself as porn? Most in Christian Nationalism want porn outlawed so is this just straight up hypocrisy for the sake of NETTR or are New Founding just unaware that it is porn or think it is being misrepresented as porn? Do William and the CBL explicitly endorse Nazi ideology anywhere? Does New Founding? It seems to me that the article on American Reformer about Carl Schmitt is damning evidence on this front but would Engel say he thinks Schmitt's political theories can be divorced from his outright Nazism? Like I said it is all definitely sinful and very, very damaging to Christian witness and should be avoided for the sake of the Gospel but I am interested, for the sake of truth, in dissecting whether this is primarily poor judgement or intentional Nazi dogwhistles. I am leaning towards primarily poor discernment (not recognizing when questioning the post-war turns into something much, much worse and not recognizing the logical implications of NETTR and needing people to disciple them and tell them when they have gone astray) but I am willing to be convinced with enough evidence that these parties are willfully attempting to sneak full out Nazism and perversion through the back door. I will say that the absolute refusal of any of them to accept pushback or rebuke (thinking of the Tobias situation and their complete 180 on White and Wilson) does start to lean me toward the latter.

You are picking a fight with me like I disagree with you that it's bad. I am no proponent of Christian nationalism and think their increasing association with anti-semitic ideas is abhorrent. The nuance (which I emphasized previously is very, very small and for Christians should not be worth considering, it is only worth considering in being truthful in analyzing things that have already happened) in *aligning* with people who produce porn or *associating* with Nazis is that they are not the ones producing the porn/advocating for it and they might not be literal Nazis. Association does not always imply guilt. They might just have poor judgement/vetting (the James Lindsey thing would support this) and they might just be using what they perceive as good in Schmitt's arguments and spitting out the rest. Automatically assuming ill intent and throwing out any nuance that might be had isn't trying to be truthful it comes off as a witch hunt. Those things on their own don't prove ill intent. If we are talking about association with those who produce porn, James Lindsey gets thrown out too. The two options are either they have poor judgement/lack of discernment or they are literal Nazis themselves. Both of these are disqualifying and I would tell Christians to steer clear of them for either reasons. I think the first one is the more likely scenario. Still bad, still evil. Just slightly more nuanced.

@DrSampler @BradyJBush @mattmillsap Seeing the nuance and calling something evil are not mutually exclusive

Agreed. Though we should be careful that "that's who these people are" isn't used to sinfully puff ourselves up and paint with a broad brush. There is some nuance (though it is a really, really small amount) to be had between thinking Schmitt had some ideas worth considering and being a literal Nazi yourself. But, yes, very bad and this nuance isn't even a nuance worth considering for a Christian
