I can answer - The RFID cards themselves are very fragile. Over the course of the game the cards take a lot of abuse - players snap their cards to look at them, the dealer shuffles, etc. Several times each show, there will be a card that won't read correctly. 1/3

messes up a second time, production will swap it out with a duplicate. They will also do this when a card gets bent or otherwise deformed. It is incredibly rare for an entire episode to go by without a card swap.
