It's official, I created my own Wish rewrite on Tumblr titled "Wish Granted"! Where I took most of the concepts from Wish and created my own movie/story! Its on going right now, so please check it out!
Link to rewrite:
Disney is getting karma everyday for scrapping their original story. They had their best movie idea in years but said, "Nooo, people don't want romance or real villains, they want references!"
All they had to do was KEEP 👏 THE 👏STARBOY👏 AND 👏 VILLAINS👏.
#WISH
So, you're telling me that Disney finished writing and planning the original
#WISH
movie, had everything but the animation finished, but then decided to just start all over!?
THIS is the movie I want to see! Its already giving me Puss in Boots vibes!
(Thread 🧵)
I'll never get over the fact
#WISH
had the first ever Disney Villain power couple and it completely worked... then decided to only have Magnifico be evil. And who wouldn't love that cat?!
Also, MAGNIFICO WANTED TO EAT A STAR FOR POWER!? THAT'S A REAL VILLAIN PLAN THERE!!
(🧵)
I haven't seen anyone post this, so have some
#WISH
Concept art of the Queen's pet sidekick, Charo the cat. I kind of love his design and he would've been a fun kitty to watch have sass without speaking. 😆 I can imagine artists having fun with him. Too bad he was cut. 🤷
They're entire dynamic is perfect here, Amaya works way better as a villain than a good guy! No wonder her character felt so empty in the final film!
NGL, they would've been one of my favorite parts of the movie, especially with that Team Rocket style dance! 😂
Here's an extra part of the Starboy scene that Disney cut off from the "Rosas" scene on their channel. Conveniently cut. I'll let it speak for itself.
Gotta say I love the extra Disney references in here towards the end. The ocean scene would've been beautiful in 2D! 😮
#WISH
Not only does it flow better, you can feel the heart and humor put into it! And Asha and Star immediately have chemistry! (Part of me always got a Puss and Kitty vibe from the Concept Artbook)

#Starboy
I'd like to share this interesting bit from the
#WISH
concept book that was shared by a replier. This says that Star was shapeshifter, but they couldn't work with that, so they chose the plushie. They needed him to be limited.
Star was changed because...he was too creative? 😐
@kandavers
This just kind of confirms for me that this is canonically how Wallace looks at or wants to look at Scott and its sending me down a road of realization
I just realized something here in
#WISH
. If the movie is supposed to be a film that "connects" all the Disney films together, and Snow White is a sequel to Wish....
Wouldn't that technically mean not only Magnifico is the Magic Mirror, but also Amaya is the Evil Queen? 🤔
Queen Amaya’s entire arc was set to give her eternally loyal husband a true love's kiss, for Disney's 100th year anniversary. But no, they thought she was better off as a superficial lunatic who whines with kids I guess
I did a
#WISH
edit based on someone pointing out one of the deleted scenes matched up to part of "At All Costs". Apparently it was a joke, but turns out they were right. No way this happened by accident.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go somewhere and cry.
#Starboy
I'm impressed on how Disney took one of their most colorful and fun movies and remade it into the most bland and boring version possible. Not even Jude Law or Jim Gaffigan could help it.
They even managed to make Peter Pan boring, like how do you even do that???
@dezzytheantonio
Pretty much. Not to mention the fact they changed a plot that sounded awesome and struck gold with the concepts, but "simplifying" it so much it felt empty.
I just want Starboy and the evil couple, man...
#WISH
#Starboy
#Asha
I still feel like his ending was wrong. Fine, Disney didn't want a romance with Asha and Star, I accept that.
But they couldn't keep a married couple either? They didn't kiss or do that much together aside from a couple scenes then they're practically divorced by the end.
#WISH
There was so much potential for romance here. The curse goes straight to manipulating and controlling the heart, the best part of which Magnifico lost when his dreams were crushed as a kid, leaving him empty. This character should have gotten love by default, to stop his pain
Another scene from the scrapped version of
#WISH
featured Asha and Sabino having a bonding moment under the The Wishing Tree. Its actually a very sweet and kind of funny moment that shows more of the heart that the film was supposed to have.
Love Sabino here, BTW.

These are official posters? Yeah, you can tell in the first one the queen gives off the vibe of her original concept. She's just missing her cat. 😂
Wonder just how far into production they were in before changing her. Seems pretty late in.
#WISH
Maybe I'm looking to into this, but how did you have so much fun making those scenes and designs for him, but then you somehow had a creative/story block, that you had to take away everything and leave us what we got?
@FMark2011
He actually wasn't meant to talk until near the climax of the movie. The execs thought it was too silly and wanted him to talk the whole time so that they could sell toys and make kids laugh. But they didn't...😂
He actually sounded cute here!
Looking back, I think its insane this one tweet for
#WISH
slowly sparked a fandom for a movie concept. I'm actually greatful for this tweet even happening.
Now we all love drawing Starboy more than the Plushie Star. 😂
You wanna know what I find the most frustrating about Wish?
That they were SO CLOSE to having some amazing concepts in the movie
Such as a romance between Asha and a magic star boy
And the first ever evil couple in Disney history
But nah, they just scrapped it.
Why haven't they made a Batman/Hellboy Crossover animated movie yet? Batman has worked with the Ninja Turtles and Scooby-Doo, and there's already a three way crossover comic.
Just get Ron Pearlman to do the voice and I'm sold! 🌟🔥

This guy had gone through hell, lost his friends, escaped from a lunatic who wanted to use him only for his brain to create a society. Yet he still found a new family, became a hero and confronted his past head on to keep his new life from being taken from him. Hell of an arc!
Both of them were meant to have different personalities too. Sabino was a lot more active and lively, while Asha was more down to earth and serious. Also, they really had a strong quote:
"No one should have to live or die without a chance to make their wishes come true"
I was kind of hesitant to post this, but since a lot of people posted
#WISH
fanart here, I figured it wouldn't hurt. Its basically my designs of Starboy and Asha with my own take on At All Costs.
I'm past hyperfixation, the concept art is part of my brain now. 😂
I find it funny that DreamWorks made Donkey a Disney animal sidekick parody by making him talk and be annoying to Shrek,
Then Disney 20 years later literally MAKES the parody real and created the thing Shrek made fun of. 😂
#WISH
Why would they cut yet another crucial part of a backstory? No wonder he became obsessed with wishes if his never came true!
Hell, it even fits with both versions of the story, especially the final film! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!
There's this scene in the Wish illustrated story they cut from the movie so you wouldn't empathize with the king even more.
Asha and Star are some of the most cruel characters I've seen in a Disney movie, mostly because their bad behavior is constantly excused by the narrative.
Fun Fact, the Wishing Tree is actually based the tree that Walt Disney spent hours under during his childhood in Marceline, Missouri. He referred to this tree as the “Dreaming Tree.” And the movie was going to incorporate how wishes work in different cultures
Disney's Wish was on its way to be being their own "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish". With having a creative story, actual villains, a romance story, Fantastic 2D animation, and deep messages about making your wishes come true....
Then they changed their minds.

Well, someone did it.
They made an AI movie.
And it’s coming this summer.
If the dead-eyed visuals weren’t enough to turn you off, the writing and acting certainly advertise why we still need HUMAN actors, writers and directors involved in the creative process.
Now THIS sucks
