A long-lost archive of the DOOM/SNES source code, levels and artwork has been found and preserved here:
Kudos to JJ Dasher for tracking this down and archiving it, and to Jeff Hughes for saving the backup all these years!
The actual development cable for Super FX DOOM
There are two controller connectors in the middle, one parallel port connector to the right for the Amiga and the audio connector at the top is to reset the Super NES when debugging
Now that the full source and assets for DOOM/SNES are out there, here's an amazing find ... what I hope is the first of many mods for DOOM/SNES was done by
@RealSunlitSpace
Originally bleem! was going to release bleemcast! on minidiscs like these pictured here…
… but it turned out that they were more expensive than the regular sized CDs so we went with that instead
… and the rest is history
I've been programming 6502/65816 for 41 years now and just today learned that the 65816 has INC A and DEC A opcodes.

#QuakeCon2024
was an amazing event!
Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by to chat and play the new SuperNES DOOM
I appreciate all the suggestions and feedback and I’m excited to wrap up the project and get on to the next big thing!
I agree 1000%!!
I've used Mesen for development and it's unmatched in terms of capabilities, features and easy of use.
I *wish* I had these kinds of comprehensive tools decades ago.
I cannot tell you how amazing today's tools are for 8-bit console development. I've been using Mesen (NES) to investigate an issue with a ROM I'm re-constructing. I can see everything at a glance. I wish I'd had this available to me when I was developing NES games in the 80s/90s.
My company page is here:

Cyboid is my latest work, a fully 3D FPS in the style of Quake 2 using a custom engine.
The game is available for Amazon and Android devices (and soon, apparently, Windows 11)

This is exactly why we're releasing the tech specs, docs and sample code for the rumble support...
... so people like
@kandowontu
can add rumble to existing SNES titles!
Had an amazing chat with MVG
@ModernVintageG
last night about all things GBA, optimization, Quake and more...
Truly enjoyed the conversation and am looking forward to move of his awesome videos!
I’m at
@QuakeCon
in Grapevine, Texas and seeing the massive venue and very long line for the BYOC was amazing!
Watch the QuakeCon Live Stream tomorrow for a special announcement from
@LimitedRunGames
about a top secret project I’ve been working on!
@ModernVintageG
I am truly honoured and humbled to have two of my projects under the "impossible port" collection!
Without a doubt a highlight of my career!!!

OMG! I had NO idea that Home Alone for NES would still be played today -- and by speedrunners no less!
I co-wrote the game with Paul Coletta at Bethesda Softworks many decades ago and would never have guessed that it's a "thing" in modern times!
Very grateful!
@HouselessGamer
@ModernVintageG
There are a few ways to improve the speed a little bit, but the code is pretty tight if I do say so myself.
I'd like to see someone take the code and assets and make step-by-step instructions for building the actual game -- that would be a great first step!

@LimitedRunGames
Yes
First we will publish the specs and protocol for the rumble support so modders and hackers can add rumble to other SNES titles
Happy 25th birthday to the SEGA Dreamcast! 🎂
Our iconic console launched 9/9/99, revolutionizing gaming with innovative features and unforgettable classics from Sonic Adventures to Shenmue.
Which Dreamcast games are you playing to celebrate?
@KevEdwardsRetro
I still have my copy of these notes!
I received my copy at the Nintendo developer technical conference in Redmond, Washington where they also showed the prototype of StarFox running.

We have our own chip that is compatible with SuperFX but provides a larger address space and fewer wait states so it runs faster
In the new Xbox documentary, the PlayStation emulator mentioned is none other than bleem!
We were asked by Microsoft to make a version which booted straight into the game for their demo without any titles.
Thanks to
@pipnayler
for finding this tidbit!
Looking for a reliable GBA cartridge dumper that's Windows 11 compatible (USB-based).
Have heard mixed reviews about Flash Boy Cyclone 3.2
Please DM with recommendations.
TIA!

Omg! First I just wanted to say that I am so beyond honored and humbled that you shared my FOSDEM talk... Secondly... I just stumbled upon the THREE PART talk with you in the emulator devroom at FOSDEM '21!? I had no idea!! Guess I won't be sleeping for awhile now!
Another work-in-progress screenshot from the next add-on Level (free for subscribers!) called "Lilith Brachium", designed by Spirit!

I can't say enough good things about the FXPak Pro.
I use it for development and it's absolutely one of the best pieces of hardware I've ever owned.
If you're thinking about buying one, do it!
@GLDSCX
Yes -- I used the Amiga because that's what I was most familiar with at the time.
Sculptured Software ended up buying a couple of Amigas so they could use my SuperFX environment when developing Dirt Trax FX
Alright now y’all are going after kando and I need you to stop that.
Kando loves the modding scene, and has many many times before tried to offer his personal assistance with RHDN before only to get rejected by the team because of their egos.
So he helped join a team to

The development cable was used to connect my Amiga to the SuperNES for downloading code to the breadboard StarFox cartridge
The SuperNES had been modified to support an audio jack that was screwed into the side of the case and connected to the RESET line inside the SuperNES.
According to an Email from Amazon, starting January 29, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements.
I vow to boycott any products or services that are advertised on Prime Video and urge you to do the same.
Looking for an external USB drive with at least 8TB for backup.
I'm currently thinking about the Seagate Expansion Desktop 14TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive (STKP14000400)
Seagate drives have been reliable, but not very fast.
Recommendations, reviews and comments appreciated!
I'll be at
@QuakeCon
next week in the Console Lounge Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Just look for the Limited Run Games table -- you'll know it when you see it!
Stop by and say "Hi!"
@ModernVintageG
Agreed. I think Nintendo should have waited to release the next version of their hardware instead of a simple refresh of the display.
Then again, Nintendo has shown great fortitude when it comes to their consoles, so perhaps they know what their audience wants more than I do.
May I please get 2 followers to copy and re-post this tweet?
I'm trying to demonstrate that someone is always listening.

I think Becky did an incredible job, especially considering the pressures she was under!
I'm not sure I would have done any better than she did, but appreciate the thoughts and kudos!

He did an excellent job of the deep dive with the GitHub release I made, so I don't know if this is big enough news to warrant another look.

I use the FXPak Pro for development of the new DOOM SNES and haven't experienced any issues with it
I'm curious if you know what specifically is different between FXPak Pro and SD2SNES?
I'll be attending PAX West in Seattle from September 1st through the 4th.
Anyone else going and want to meet up to say "hi!" or something else?
Hit me up with a DM so we can make arrangements!
@ricardo_sdl
No, it also required a breadboard "romulator" device
Basically this was a modified StarFox cart with RAM and a small boot ROM which had the debugger stub resident
The debug stub communicated with the Amiga for downloading and running code via the cable
