A train of 18 wagons from Malaba to Kampala carries load equivalent to about 30 trucks on the same stretch. And another thing, this load is moved by the Locomotives procured in 2021. The motive power of these Locos (3000hp) is the reason this is possible.

All is set for the commencement of the construction of a concrete sleeper railway line. The concrete sleeper factory in Kawolo is producing these sleepers that would have been imported. Most of the inputs are locally sources & the man power is mostly Ugandan.

We are deploying the refurbished coaches in the meantime as the process of aquiring MGR compatible Diseal Multiple Units DMUs) is concluded. It takes sometimes to manufacture rolling stock that is compatible with the MGR system.

The kind of rail tracks being laid in Jinja. This will be done across the country to restore the original track length. Also important to note, the process is being undertaken by Ugandans with CRBC as the implementing contractor. This is a good way of transferring knowledge.

More than 30 years later, with no railway activities, the railway line in Bukedea, Kumi, Soroti, Lira, Gulu is still intact. In other parts of the country in less than 20 years, the line and right of way have since vanished.

We have started. Here, the machine is offloading a panel from the wagon to place it on ground. The process continues with fixing the fishplates. After, ballast will be put and a tamper will be used to pack the ballast under the track and sleepers.

Today, the line has reached Nakawa level crossing. The next step is to spread and tamp ballast. Other processes will be undertaken to make the crossing fit for use. A turnout for a loop line has also been constructed to allow for 2 trains to use the section at the same time.

🚅 Each sleeper weighs 185kgs.
🚅 All sleepers are fitted with "Anti Vandal" making them hard to vandalise.

Is 25 axel load. This means that, the concrete line offers an extra 7 axel.
