It was disturbing on many levels, not least because 1) she did not ask any consent for this "service" and the invasion of my privacy and 2) she did it IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PHARMACY. Luckily, no customers were there at the moment, but her assistant was RIGHT THERE.

5) Most important: I didn't ask for this or consent to it. And there are pharmacy chains up here that have been encouraging/forcing pharm assistants to do unnecessary services to upbill the HC system under the new rules. How can it be ethical to force unwanted services on people?

I feel I should clarify some things: I'm in Canada (Alberta). Where I live, the prov (state) govt expanded scope of practice for pharmacists to start providing some primary care. I think that's dangerous for many reasons, but I have every respect for pharmacists.

When I relied on walk-in clinics, my old pharm saved my life a couple of times (locum MDs who hadn't checked my allergies carefully enough). But 1) pharms are not medical doctors--they just aren't, 2) I have an excellent MD now--thorough, careful, misses nothing. She KNOWS that.

4) She was asking deeply invasive questions about things I don't have that she was just guessing about based on bloodwork--again doc's on it (checked and ruled out). There was 0 need for her unprompted mid-store medical.

3) These were refills I've had multiple times from her. Nothing has changed. She always asks if they are still working well/if I have any questions, which is fine. THIS was not that.

Friends of mine did same thing--family Xmas trip to Mexico. Tstd + 1st day home but "We all needed this." I asked abt all the ppl they could've infected on their way hm while contagious. Angry crickets. They quarantined for 5 dys then back to wk/sch (no - tsts). Nvr gonna end.

You know what else is ruinous to friendship? Infecting someone you care about with an illness you didn't even yet know you had (asymptomatic--60% of COVID infections), and knowing that person became disabled or died because of you. Masks work. It's been proven. Be a mensch.

Soooooo common in evangelical circles. Not just the pastors. Older guys volunteered to "mentor" youth groups so they could pick up girls half their age. It happened at a Christian school I went to (classmate went on to marry PE teacher; she was 17 he was 30 when they met).

My relationship with my siblings has been irreparably damaged. They "disapprove" of the caution I take (& ask them to keep) with our parents, who live with me (still C-19 free). I've been shouted at, called names, threatened w "elder abuse" charges. How do you go back after that?

Actually had conversations with siblings: "Would it be so bad if the parents caught COVID (and died a painful and hideous death)--at least they'd be 'living'". Ignoring that seniors could all be doing a lot more 'living' if people would 😷 indoors, stay home when ill.

THIS. We got shamed, humiliated, isolated. And learning coping mechanisms/how to fake it to survive doesn't mean we weren't beside ourselves with the struggle. I was told I couldn't be ADHD because I finished uni--yeah, but it took me 10 years and 1 breakdown to do 2 degrees.

In 🇨🇦. Had a runner friend who was told to live on carrots and celery so as not to gain "too much" weight during pregnancy because her husband was a big guy and GP feared an oversized baby. Friend had heartburn for 9 mos, starved. Baby 6 lbs and then had trouble nursing. Yay.

I have been told for nearly 30 yrs that I have a lifetime ban on donating blood because of possible mad cow exposure. Now, suddenly, it's all fine. My guess is they know the potential blood supply is hopelessly compromised by C-19, so it no longer matters.

When I returned from studying in the UK during Mad Cow, I was given a lifetime ban on donating blood/blood products b/c of possible exposure. CDN Blood Services says it's ALL FINE NOW. No test or cure, but desp need for donors (and maybe threat of CVD exp seems more pressing?).
