The whole process of carefully unwrapping dolls and packing them back for Dasara is so therapeutic. My Ajji who passed on this tradition to me would've been 100 today, if she were around.

I love walking dates in any old bangalore locality with lots of shops - malleswaram, basavanagudi, mg road, etc. There's no pressure to fill every silence or make constant eye contact, helps people get comfortable, be themselves and have fun. :)

Your observation of Food = Culture in Bangalore, is on point. Local greeting has reference to food. Instead of "sup?", people usually say "thindi aiyta?" "oota aiyta?" and so on.

I think it’s hard to be 100% certain but you can look for a few signs: how long one’s been in the market on their own will, if they are asking and responding to questions about future plans, their view on friendships and relationships in general.
