@BrainsExplained How about we have a system that *doesn't* fund pediatric and cancer care by somehow siphoning off 'administrative overheads' on research grants?

@mtauraso @defnotbeka Note: the reported probability of impact may *increase* with more data ... until suddenly going to zero. As the trajectory is refined with more data, it shrinks into a smaller area, but Earth stays the same size, becoming a larger percentage of the potential impact zone.

@dwarkesh_sp Thoughts: - Most humans don't make new connections/discoveries either - LLMs aren't given the ability to ruminate on questions over long periods like humans do - Any 'new' hypothesis from an LLM would probably just be an existing human speculation from training data

@FutureJurvetson Don't panic when likelihoods increase! With more data, the probable impact zone shrinks, and when the zone includes Earth, it makes the likelihood of an Earth impact go UP. Once the projected impact zone no longer includes Earth, then that number abruptly goes to ZERO.

RT @buttonslives: Remember the expression “don’t bottle up your feelings”? Somehow this idea became conventional wisdom and I heard it cons…

@jdpereira The endless paperwork you have to wade through has a direct causal connection to the 70% of NIH funds flowing to a bloated academic administration sector.

@MatthewParrott @paulg Counterpoint: all training data contains a multitude of political viewpoints, which could all conceivably be expressed, depending on the context of a conversation. If a model has a default ideological viewpoint, look at the system prompt that the controlling company wrote.

@AbsentHog I'm of two minds - weird and concerning diary entries, stealing patient records - doctors collectively suspected her in the first instance Have you seen the weird similarities with Dutch nurse Lucia de Berk?

@cjsbishop This is the dam that was mean to cost $75 million but actually ended up costing $210 million?
