Excited to introduce myself for the
#Neurosurgery
#Match2025
! I’m Pavel from Tijuana, Mexico 🇲🇽, a neuro-oncology researcher. After years of preparation, I’m finally applying. I’ve been a passionate swimmer for over 20 years. Looking forward to connecting with peers and mentors.
Regardless of the outcome, I feel incredibly proud and blessed to have reached this point in my career. Thank you to my peers, mentors, and family who’ve supported me along the way. I wish all my friends the very best and will keep them in my prayers.
#Neurosurgery
#Match2025
As an
#IMG
it’s difficult not to be too hard on ourselves with
#USMLE
scores, mostly when aiming for competitive specialties such as
#Neurosurgery
.
I’m at peace knowing I did my very best. I’m glad I can finally focus on research for the next 2 years. I’ve got work left to do.
A quick reminder for all
#IMG
: the rising research numbers are misleading and inflated. A more accurate measure of central tendency would be the median, not the mean, which can be heavily skewed by outliers. Also, these counts include articles, abstracts, and presentations
After careful planning, I’m excited to announce a scholarship for a committed student from Latin America preparing for the USMLE Step 1🇲🇽. Having to finance these tests on my own, I aim to support someone facing similar challenges.

Whenever students ask me about how to get started in research, my answer is consistently the same: Statistics.
While scientific writing is certainly important, there’s no research without statistics.
Here are some beginner-friendly courses anyone can start with:
I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to join the

To anyone applying for the

I’ve just concluded my first month as a Research associate in the
#Neurosurgery
department at the University of Texas Health Science Center. I feel nothing but blessed to have this life changing opportunity. A lot of work ahead, but I’m confident it’ll be incredible!
I’m beyond excited to share my latest publication! This online-based initiative trained 800+ students and contributed 3.4% of Mexico’s
#neurosurgery
research output. This model can reduce the research gap in developing countries and connect physicians worldwide. Link 🔗⬇️
What a great Wednesday! 2 manuscripts accepted✅. First time having two articles accepted in the same week (those are usually rejections haha😂). Truly an academic milestone. Can't wait to share our findings in print. Let's keep up the momentum🥳!

Excited to share our latest work! This is the 1st meta-analysis to assess iMRI in GBM surgery. When iMRI was used alone or in a multimodal approach, it correlates with increased extent of resection and survival. Thx to my mentors!

I’m truly happy to have reached the 100 citations mark! I’m very excited about the start of my career in neurosurgical research, something I really enjoy doing. Let’s keep it up 🥳
Hello

! I am Pavel Pichardo, a recent international medical graduate from Mexico with a passion for neurosurgery. I am looking for a postdoctoral research position in a program where I can learn and give back! Any help appreciated!
A truly wonderful presentation by
@AliBaajMD
! Always heartwarming to see the impact that education and mentoring have, especially from amazing leaders in the field. The biggest takeaway for me is the way collaboration can drastically improve patient care.
@NeurosurgUTH
It’s highly encouraging to see that, despite the results of the overall poll, Neurosurgery has the highest percentage of “very happy people” outside of work. It’s a great shift towards a healthier work-life balance.
It reminds me of

I think a better statement is-Not all SR and MA represent the highest level of evidence. These studies are as good as their data, good data yields meaningful results, particularly when worked with Seniors who know a lot about a topic. I don’t believe generalizations help much.
Truly humbled to have been able to collaborate!
Genomic assessment is crucial in treating breast and lung cancer, but the long turnaround time for NGS is a constraint. CSF-cfTNA analysis using Genexus-OPA could offer valuable insights with a shorter TAT
Just published! The use of iUS in GBM & HGG surgery across 732 patients correlated with improved survival and extent of resection. iUS is a cost-effective tool that can be widely adopted to improve patient care 🌍
