Antetokounbros and hundreds, if not thousands, fans left OAKA after Game 4 of the Greek Finals suspended with 2:46 to go in the third quarter. Objects and smoke bombs were thrown from the stands into the court, while Olympiacos were up 28.
When you consider all the super athletes that burned out early (Rose, Blake, Wall etc) it really shines a light on how absurd Russell Westbrook is as a concept. Like, we're the same species lol
Steph and Kawhi. Finals stats through two games.
Steph: 28.5 ppg on 63.2 true-shooting
Kawhi: 28.5 ppg on 61.5 true-shooting
"Steph getting carried again LMAO"
Paul Pierce wasn't better in his prime than Wade, but he was an incredible player who absolutely could've won more chips with better teams early.
My guess is, most of the folk claiming he wasn't that good were in elementary school or their mum's womb during his prime.
Ramona Shelburne on the Lowe Post talking about, in complete seriousness, how disrespectful it was that KD didn't take a meeting with the Lakers in 2016. The how-dare-he tone lmao
Steph Curry is running 7.7 P&R per game, most of his career. He's scoring 1.20 ppp, 95th percentile.
So, a Steph Curry P&R generates more efficient offense than Giannis on the break (1.17ppp).
Casuals have no idea OJ Mayo still hooping overseas 🤦🏽♂️ If Eric Gordon can start for an NBA team today then trust that OJ could too. Hitting open three's is very easy for these guys. League has def moved on but they could still hoop there.
No mistake, if the Lakers win the chip ESPN will be running LeBron GOAT debates for a month. If the Bucks/Clippers win the debate will be " should there be an asterisk"
Last two seasons vs the Blazers:
29 pts on 20 shots (W)
31 pts on 28 shots (W)
23 pts on 20 shots (L)
30 pts on 31 shots (L)
22 pts on 20 shots (L)
25 pts on 25 shots (L)
I don't think people understand how embarrassing a loss at home to the depleted Heat is for the Celtics
They were comparing this Celtics team to some of the greatest teams in NBA history
Post-allstar.
Doncic: 35.7% usage, 7.9 seconds avg time of possession, 4.4 dribbles per-touch
Brunson: 35.5% usage, 9.1 avg time of possession, 5.5 dribbles per-touch
There's definitely something to how their ball dominance is perceived differently.
My hottest take right now is that Jalen Brunson plays a less efficient version of Luka ball with the Knicks but it’s hailed as amazing because it’s fresher
Desmond Bane was barely a top-30 pick in a weak draft. Currently shooting 47.5% from three on 6.3 attempts per-36.
The bias against older players in the draft is so stupid.
This point really needs to be hammered home: CP3 has been great for the Suns, but Booker is just a flat out star now.
In 537 mins Booker has played without CP3, the Suns are outscoring opponents by 10.0 points per 100. He has a 62.2 TS% in those mins
Best two-man line-up in the league (min 500 minutes)?
Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.
117.5 offense
99.9 defense
Plus 17.5 net-rating
63.4 true-shooting.
If you're talking NBA twitter, Ben Stinar is responsible for like 27% of the worst takes of the decade.
Kills me that I don't know if he's doing it on purpose.
Luka Doncic in the mid-range.
Year 1: 38.3%
Year 2: 35.6%
Year 3: 48.6%
I think he makes another jump into that best mid-range player in the game conversation this season
Kawhi is averaging 26/5/5 with 1.8 steals on 51/41/91 splits, on a team with the best record in the league, and I haven't heard a lick of "best player?" or even MVP talk lol
Luka is 23 and has won the Euroleague, Euroleague MVP, led Slovenia to 4th in the Olympics with one other NBA player, soon to be 3 time all-NBA and now knocks off a 64 win team to reach the WCF averaging 32/10/7.
Not since LBJ has a player cleared the hype so completely.
Folk will probably give the bulk of the credit for Phoenix's 7-3 to CP3, and certainly he brings a lot more to the table than just his play, but the real story of the Suns' start is their bench.
Dirk in the playoffs from 2001-2011: 26/11 on 47/40/89 splits, +6.7
KAT in his playoff career: 18/12 on 45/36/80 splits, -1.4
I never want to see KAT/Dirk comps ever again.
Imagine if Chris Paul's first title goes through LeBron/AD/reigning MVP/Kawhi/KD/Kyrie/Harden.
I don't think life is ever that fair, but can YOU IMAGINE PEOPLE
I remember KG went from a string of 1st round exits to a string of lottery teams. If KG is so great, why can't he get past the 1st round? Why can't he make the playoffs?
Because no amount of individual greatness can make up for organizational incompetence and bad rosters.
Karl Towns is a 52/40/86 player. One of only 3 centers to hit 140+ threes in a season. 69.4% at the rim.
The guy is an absolute monster. Just every time I watch him.
If you gave Paul George shit during the bubble playoffs but are silent on Jimmy Butler, you're full of shit. Especially if you're in the crowd that said he was definitively better.
Mavs' players EFG% with and without Luka.
Porzingis: Luka ON 62.3%, OFF 44.7%
THJ: Luka ON 59.2%, OFF 46.7%
DFS: 56.4%, OFF 45.2%
Richardson: 55.8% ON, 45.2% OFF
Powell: 53.8% ON, 25.0% OFF
Brunson: 55.0% ON, 50.6% OFF
Even more extreme than last year.
D'Angelo Russell has made more jumpers this season (449) than any other player, including James Harden (second with 441).
His efficiency would go through the roof if he could just get to the line.
Dame is averaging 25/4/7 on 60.9 TS%, and he has a higher DARKO than any of the guys listed. Better EPM than anyone but hali. For a team with a better record than any of the guys listed. With a longer track record of all-NBA level basketball than any of the guys listed.
Malika Andrews: "Is Tyrese Maxey the best PG in the East?"
Brian Windhorst: "I think he could make a strong case…"
Kendrick Perkins: "…You know who I'm going with…Jalen Brunson!…proven in the big moments…"
Malika: "No one's taking Tyrese Haliburton?…"
Perk: "…excellent
No matter how Finals go, I'll probably be annoyed.
Raps win/No KD "Steph is a fraud"
Dubs win/no KD "KD's rings don't count"
Dubs lose with KD "KD ruined the Warriors"
Dubs win with KD "Warriors ruined the league"
I'm surprised Giannis hasn't been getting more DPOY buzz, too. 97.9 defensive-rating is by far the best in the league among guys playing 25+ mins per-game. Number 1 team defense (3.5 points better than Toronto).
Opponents shooting a laughable 42.3% when he's at the rim.
I don't think enough is being made of the fact that Malcolm Brogdon is on course to join the 50/40/90 club while averaging basically 15/5/3 for a regular season juggernaut.
That's crazy production for a 20% usage guy in 29.5 minutes per game.
Chris Paul is averaging 10.9 dimes per game. League leading and would be his best mark since he was 28. I'm seriously considering a plant-based diet lmao
Simmons: gives insane take
Russillo: I'm not sure about that
Simmons: dilutes take to 3%
Russillo: sure, that makes sense
Simmons: yeah, that's what I was saying
No Harden, Ben, or Doc around so now it's the fans going under the bus. No matter the context, you're en route for a disappointing early exit for the 7th year in a row.
Luka Doncic statlines so far this season:
34/9/3 win
25/10/10 win
29/12/9 loss
12/9/4 win
31/13/15 loss
27/12/13 win
Not sure he can hack the league without that explosiveness everyone is obsessed with, though.
Random stat I just found:
Russell Westbrook attempted 53 three-pointers in 187 clutch minutes last season. Hit 11 of them (20.8%).
Dario Saric hit the exact same number on just 20 attempts lol.
Can't believe how many people are second guessing Dame on the Bucks. Bucks biggest weakness the last 4 years has been playoff halfcourt offense, and they added a guy who lead the league in offensive EPM (+8.1), with a 65.1 TS%. "did they get better" of course they fucking did lol
Shooting 40% in the mid range this year, just over 2 makes per game. The focus has long been on his three, but the evolution of his in between game is far more important.
Anthony Davis has a 66.3 TS%. That has to be a record among high-volume shooters this far into the playoffs but I can't search it right now. The fact that 145 of his 261 shots have been jumpers is crazy.
I think its instructive that almost all non-American NBA fans can see the xenophobia in how a lot of Americans talk about Giannis/Jokic/Luka, while a large amount of the people who can't are from, well, America.
