"Keir *has* changed the Labour Party. He's changed them into the Conservatives" - @carla_denyer is proven more right on that every day. If you're a progressive, the only vote that makes sense is to #VoteGreen.
'What Keir has done. is taken all the left out of the Labour party, and he's come out with a set of values and principles in complete alignment with my views as a commercial capitalist.'

Absolutely stunning performance from Carla Denyer on #itvdebate tonight: calling out Labour for their endless U-turns on their pledges. How can anyone trust Labour with their vote?. #VoteGreen on 4th July for progressive politics you can trust.

"We are Black White Muslim and we're Jews / There are many many more of us than you!" . Fantastic chants at the counter protest to the far right rally I'm Bristol tonight. Several @bristolgreen councillors are present at the scene tonight as observers.

Deeply saddened, angry and ashamed that Bristol's four Labour MPs did not vote to support a #CeaseFireInGaza tonight. Next year when voters go to the polls they will have a chance to elect pro-peace candidates, and I am sure they will.

Great thread on how transphobia was just the tactic turned to by the religious right after they lost the battle over gay marriage equality.
Now, Shaun does a real good video, but something I'd add is that yes a lot of GCs think that trans issues just didn't exist until 2015 because (insert conspiracy theory here) and the reason for is simple:. The religious right lost on marriage equality and changed tactics.

Caroline had been the best representative the Green Party could possibly have asked for, and we owe her a huge debt for her years of tireless campaigning. It is crucial now that Greens build on that foundation to elect more MPs like Carla to fight for green values in Parliament.
In 2010 #Brighton Pavilion made history by electing me UK’s 1st Green MP & it’s been the honour of my life. My open letter to residents & friends explains why I’m not standing at next General Election. With love & gratitude, I hope I've done you proud 👇.

The largest police force in the country is saying it will have a "low" tolerance for "any" protest during what is arguably the largest political event of the year. Not everyone thinks it's a celebration!. This is authoritarianism, plain and simple.
Our tolerance for any disruption, whether through protest or otherwise, will be low. We will deal robustly with anyone intent on undermining this celebration. 🧵🔽.

In Bristol Central, we don't have to settle for the least-worst option. Carla Denyer is standing to deliver real change, with an alternative to Tory and Labour austerity policies. Now is the time to join our movement, and help get Carla elected. 👉.
Want a Green MP in #BristolCentral?. I’m your candidate, and we can win! #CarlaForBristol. Promoted by Miles Thorpe on behalf of Carla Denyer (Bristol Green Party) both at 17 Great George St, Bristol BS1 5QT

I urge #GPC23 to support motion E05 to fund HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail. I used to be very against HS2, but we need to work with the reality we live in where it's now half built. The UK needs high speed rail and it doesn't make sense for Greens to say "yes but not that one".
Good morning #GPC23! If you’re attending the Green Party conference today, keep an eye out for our leaflets about #HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail. 👇 And simply get in touch with us if you've got any questions—our DMs are open. See you at conference! 💚 #GPConf

I am immensely proud of Carla, and to have been involved in this campaign for the past 5 years as a volunteer, coordinator, party officer and councillor. This is a fulfillment of years - decades for some - of hard work and commitment. Thank you Bristol, and well done Carla 💚.
WE DID IT!. Bristol, we made history💚. Thank you so much to the people of Bristol Central who have elected me as their MP. As this city's first Green MP, I promise to be a strong, independent voice for Bristol's values, pushing the govt to be bolder on the issues that matter.

Deeply irritated that the question on climate for #BBCOurNextPM was asking what 3 things people should do in their own lives to improve things. ONE OF THESE PEOPLE IS GOING TO RUN THE COUNTRY - why is the BBC framing this systemic crisis as a matter of individuals taking action?.

Great to hear Carla Denyer @carla_denyer on #Newsnight tonight. The Green Party is offering systemic solutions to the #EnergyCrisis, unlike Labour or the Tories who will give massive bungs to the energy companies without changing anything.

Keir Starmer is in Bristol to roll back Labour's green investment pledge *yet again*. Bristol deserves politicians who will take the climate emergency seriously and who won't follow the false economy of cuts and austerity #VoteGreen2024.

Respect for @OwenJones84 for this very moving and personal column. Labour has moved far away from its roots - join @TheGreenParty to support progressive, redistributive politics.
My family have been Labour for generations. I joined aged 15. Now I quit, to back Greens or independents. Why? . Because Labour is committed to austerity, driving kids into poverty, and war crimes - and destroying anyone who wants an alternative. 👇.

Very happy that the Council's planning committee has voted to reject the application to tear down @ZaZaBazaar to build offices. We did it!. This would have ended a fantastic Bristol business and started years of disruptive environmentally and economically damaging works.
I am opposed to this proposal. I am not convinced by the economic case for uprooting a thriving and iconic business to build office space, and I have concerns about the environmental and heritage impact of full demolition/reconstruction.

Proud to have spoken in support of this. We have an urgent need to decarbonise our entire economy; we cannot do that while domestic travel revolves around air + road. We need high speed rail. As we so often do, @YoungGreenParty is leading @TheGreenParty in a modern direction.
🚨 The Young Greens support the full funding of HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail. 💚 We want to enable a modal shift away from cars so that people are able to travel via high speed rail.

Hoping for a swift recovery for Danica; this is an awful injury and incredibly unlucky. A good reminder to all campaigners to use an implement like a spatula or wooden spoon to post your leaflets. I had to retire my first spatula because a dog took a bite from it.
Update- still at hospital. Sadly my finger can’t be reattached but it’s just the tip above the first joint that’s gone. Just got X-rays to see how the bone is and will be getting antibiotics and probably surgery soon.

Bristol's Central Library no longer being under threat is extremely welcome news. But this fits into a Labour pattern of threatening a community resource and then "saving it" from themselves. It just so happens that this often happens around elections as well 🤔.
🏛️ #Bristol’s Central Library to stay put. 🧵 A joint statement from me; @CllrEllieking, Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health; and @eileen_means, @BristolWestCLP Labour candidate for Hotwells & Harbourside ward:

It was a privilege to be asked to speak at the #SchoolStrikeForPalestine yesterday. The killing of civilians must end to enable a lasting peace. I was so impressed with the energy and eloquence of the youth activists: young people are the future and say #CeasefireNowInGaza!
I was proud to join @carla_denyer, @PatDBMcAllister & @bristolgreen Councillors at today’s School Strike for Palestine in Bristol. @TheGreenParty want a #ceasefire, the public overwhelming want a #ceasefire and Bristol’s 4 MP’s all abstain. Bristol deserves better. #VoteGreen

Very proud that @TheGreenParty MPs are standing up for our fundamental democratic right to peaceful protest - thank you @EllieChowns!.
5 peaceful climate protesters are facing an excessive sentence under the undemocratic Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022. I’m calling on Labour to repeal the Conservatives’ repressive anti-protest laws which undermine our obligations under international law.

It was a pleasure for @carla_denyer and myself to speak with those affected by the grossly unfair leasehold system in Hotwells & Harbourside. We discussed unequal legal agreements, opaque insurance provisions, and fire safety amidst the cladding crisis.

I'm extremely worried for the future of local government under Labour. They clearly have no plans for improving the dire state of local authority finances.
Breaking:. Labour is now saying explicitly that it will not revalue council tax bands having repeatedly ducked the question over the past week. Jonathan Ashworth, the shadow paymaster general, tells @TimesRadio that council tax bands will not be changed under Labour. He says.

So good that at least one of the UK's political parties has leaders who speak sense on this awful conflict. The only way forwards that does not continue the slaughter of innocent Israelis and Palestinians is a ceasefire, followed by meaningful negotiations for a lasting peace.
