This evening every single Wirral Labour and Conservative cllr voted against an “immediate, bilateral, long-lasting ceasefire in Gaza”
That’s it. That’s the tweet.
@TheGreenParty
Disappointed to hear
@Emmabarnett
repeat (31 mins) the fallacy that "a majority of those who voted did want this government".44% is not and never will be a majority.

@BBCWomansHour
Amazing FOI report shows that one Green cllr in Wirral submitted more case work than all 39 Labour cllrs combined: Many cllrs made no reports at all!

Value for money???
This is great and important. My local
@TheGreenParty
branch has welcomed many ex-Labour members in the past year. Their universal response has been how positive it is to be treated like a grown-up and to have left such a toxic environment.
Latest from me: "manic apparatchiks – men, usually – stalking around party offices, desperately trying to fix the selections of parliamentary candidates, and dispensing off-the-record briefings about figures deemed ready for liquidation..."

The scale of the sewage discharge in East Wirral is shocking, disgraceful and a scandal. Privatisation of water has been an unmitigated disaster for our environment and must be reversed
From central Wirral virtually the whole

As discussions at

Our road safety team have pulled together some top tips for your child walking to or from school:
In 2020, 105 people in

were killed or seriously injured by vehicles. 52 were cyclists or pedestrians. Once a week someone is killed or seriously injured walking or cycling. Generations of politicians have failed to prioritise the safety of the most vulnerable road users.

No, it's vital that politicians end the decades long discrimination against cyclists and pedestrians and create safe streets for people to use. You really should be better informed and actually do some research rather than victim blaming

Wirral has stark and startling disparities in transport with deadly outcomes for our poorest communities. Failure to invest in green travel solutions contributes directly to unacceptable health and social outcomes.
@johnharris1969
My experience on the ground is that the public tend strongly to blame local councils for their deteriorating local environment and service provision. Of course the government know this and exploits it ruthlessly. But we are at stage now where many councils could easily collapse.
Huge thanks to everyone who helped achieve this amazing result in the face of a truly nasty Labour campaign that should shame its members up and down the country.
@TheGreenParty
@WirralGreens
I often pass the Irish Famine plaque in
#Birkenhead
- in 1853 1/4 of the town's population were refugees born in Ireland. Thinking of all the souls who have perished this year trying to follow in their footsteps and the cruel laws that hastened their loss
Official 2020 data from Wirral Council shows that Green councillors reported, on average, at least twice as many issues as councillors from other parties................
A very positive step forward assuming it isn't blocked at full council next month. This change is a direct result of
@TheGreenParty
gains at the local elections in May. Solid proof that voting Green makes a real difference.
Inequalities in Wirral are truly shocking and here's a big one. If you live in Birkenhead & Tranmere you are four times more likely to be hit by a vehicle than in Greasby, Heswall and West Kirby.
Traffic calming is a public health and social justice issue.

1/2 Last month, a Green Party motion to Wirral Council asked for glyphosate to be phased out within two years. Sadly, Labour and Tory cllrs refused to back this although an amendment did agree to phase out Glyphosate "as soon as possible" which could mean anything.
Hi
@MerPolTraffic
@MerPolCC
why is it still so hard to report vehicles obstructing the pavement? Why is it not even mentioned on your "Nuisance parking" page?
At the beginning of this year there was no way that I would have felt comfortable cycling with my five- and nine-year-old daughters from Hotwells to St Paul’s.
@BristolCouncil
, keep up the great work encouraging cycling and do please make these pop-up lanes permanent.
How about calling a halt to new road building, airport expansion and not ripping out cycle lanes instead of bragging about your new spreadsheet?

£1.3m investment in the poorest part of Wirral likely up in smoke as Labour, Tory and Lib Dem cllrs vote to delay Birkenhead Road active travel scheme in Seacombe. Clearly puts any future funding for active travel in serious jeopardy.

Important thread for all Greens, old and new
Especially this:
"Stay positive, don't play by THEIR rules & remember the best rebuttal is YOUR message with a SMILE :)"
Very obvious that the Labour right are now starting to use exact same campaign techniques against the Greens that they used against Corbyn.
Greens should take that seriously: most of broadcast media is New Labour aligned & very happy to repeat garbage - from Sky to BBC & LBC 1/3

Very pleased to sign this open letter to the Pension Minister in support of fossil fuel divestment. It makes no sense for pension funds to fuel the

Dear

MPs, Councillors, financial experts, NGO heads, academics, and faith leaders agree.

The oddly controversial re-wilding of Hoylake beach, i.e. not raking it, is resulting in a massive increase in passerine birds, in spite of the dog walkers. Today 2 Wheatears, 3 Rock Pipits, (pic) 16 Meadow Pipits, a Tree Pipit, 35 Pied & 14 White Wagtails (pics) & 40 Linnets.

end up with such a silly position. Has to be challenged to achieve the required culture change.
COVID-19 deaths suggest East Wirral harder hit than West Wirral. Post lockdown we cannot accept a return to BAU that fails to address the underlying causes.....
Birkenhead Market. The move to Argos is confirmed as Labour & Tory cllrs reject the views of the public, traders, ward cllrs and the MP for Birkenhead
This is a travesty for the town, a failure of council officials to listen and a failure of some cllrs to see common sense
