I'm a big believer in covers needing an element of narrativity and/or a visual metaphor that leans into the theme of the book. IMO the storytelling starts the moment someone looks at the cover. A pin-up usually feels like a detailed figure drawing.

The failure of larger comics institutions to recognize successful creators in the crowdfunding market is insane, considering they're making far more liveable income than the average talent in the direct market. Also, maybe keep an eye on the future and be less stuck in the past.
