Whoever got you this as a kid LOVED you. There are adults telling kids to not pursue art and to get a “real job”. The person that got you this believed in you. I’m where I am now because of the people who saw enough of a spark in me to think of something like this as a gift.
PSA: If you’re doing shopping for artsy kids this holiday season, avoid these art sets. Every artist I know got these as a kid and LOATHED them, because the quality sucks. Instead, find out what medium the kid likes and get nice versions of that specific thing.
Artists aren’t blessed, born with talent. We’re cursed. Born with nothing but an obsession with creating. An addiction. We’re cursed to climb an impossible mountain with no peak until we die.
There’s more to trans people than what you see on the surface. I just found out one of the farmers I buy vegetables from is trans. Trans farmers, more than meets the eye.
“AI art wouldn’t exist without someone telling it what to make. So the person telling it what to make is the artist of the work.”
This is the most common argument I’ve seen trying to validate AI “artists”.
When I tell a waiter at a restaurant what I want to eat, am I the chef?
Some introverts want to be invited to everything. We don’t want to go. But we still want to be treated as if we might go. And we MIGHT go. But probably not. We still love you though.
Hey, if you’re young and you have this idea that drawing from imagination and using reference are completely separate ideas, they’re not. Most artists use reference, especially to draw stuff from imagination. “Imagination” doesn’t mean it was completely informed by nothing.
Drawing comics is neat because you gotta learn anatomy, perspective, acting, cinematography, character design, creature design, costume design, graphic design, technical drawing, basic architecture, set dressing, color theory (sometimes), and prop design.
@GenelJumalon
Let’s pretend AI art didn’t exist for a second. Someone sends an artist a bunch of prompts, the artist does art and sends it back to the person who write the prompts. That person then enters the art into a contest under their own name and wins. That’s unethical.
@GenelJumalon
The AI is not a person, but the person who generated it by typing words into the AI is not an artist. They created nothing. At best, they collaborated. A collaboration they can take credit for because there’s no human on the other end. This should not be allowed. It’s terrible.
Artists: create a contract specifically for private commissions. Only allow clients to make revisions at the sketch phase. Charge for any and all revisions after finished art. Take half your rate up front (non refundable) before you start, half + fees when you’re done.
I think it’s funny when people get mad when characters who were “canonically straight” get “retconned” as LGBTQ. I was “canonically straight” for 25 years. It’s not unrealistic for fictional characters to change their sexuality or gender later in life, regular people do.
For everyone saying this makes her a catch, she was a catch when she had no money and no job and she was just following a dream. Support and love your partner unconditionally and stuff like this is just a bonus you can enjoy together. ❤️
@TheRealKeean
Is this parody or something? Using kids as a prop for hate and publicity while also using kids as a prop to promote religion is the antithesis of “let kids be kids”.
I can always tell the difference between an actual artist using AI as a tool and one of these hacks self-proclaiming they’re artists. Artists willingly share because they know what it actually takes to create. The others think they discovered a golden ticket for unearned acclaim.
@GreyfoxLeia
All the “you haven’t read the comics” people are funny because neither have they. Miles isn’t the same Miles from the comics, why would Gwen be? Infinite multiverse of possibilities and we can’t have a trans Gwen? Silly.
I used to get annoyed when every pro’s advice for how to break into comics was “just make comics”, but they were right. It seems like mostly everything else falls into place if you just do the thing. Now I give that same advice.
It’s funny when people give unsolicited critiques and when they’re ignored or brushed off they say “you just can’t take criticism”. Lol no, my dude. We take criticism all the time. From editors, art directors, and fellow pros we trust. Not some rando with 4 followers.
@Blankzilla
I haven’t watched it, but all the evidence I’ve seen is definitely pretty blatant. It’s hard to ignore. Like yeah, it’s the colors of her suit and always has been, but add the flag and supportive little flag on her father and it’s really undeniable.
The thing about artist tools is that they only respond to the skill level of the artist using them. This is true across the board. From a pencil and paint brush, to cameras, all the way to photoshop and 3D, and everything in between. 🧵
@choochoobear
Her and Howard were bi and literally no one can change my mind. Once she realized she was Lesbian, he was probably 100% supportive and they’re still best friends and co-parents and I think that’s great.
If you’re an artist looking for work, commissions, or just want people to follow you and your work, reply with your work and portfolio links! (No AI or NF.T). Editors, art directors, and writers, look here for artists :). 👇
There is no such thing as natural born talent, or “god given talent”, I’ll forever hate that. If we’re even halfway decent at this thing it’s because we’ve spent thousands of hours of our free time practicing, for years and years and years.
A comic can be sequential art without a script, without dialogue, without a writer, and it’s still a comic. But a script and dialogue without sequential art is not a comic. To not credit an artist is ridiculous. To treat an artist as any less than a writer is ridiculous. Stop.
So they’ll hoard knowledge, they’ll go after anyone discussing valid criticisms of their medium. They’ll smugly declare the death of art like as if AI is any sort of end all be all for creation. AI won’t go anywhere but these goons will eat themselves while we all move forward.
People generating AI art are not artists. At least not of the work being generated by the AI. There’s no question. Therefore, getting credit and/or compensation for the work would be unethical and should be shamed.
“But that’s different, the chef is a real person”
What if the chef was a robot. Whether or not the robot is a chef would be a complicated debate to be sure, but I’m still not the chef for telling the robot what to make. There’s no grey area there, it’s simple.
People who aren’t artists like to romanticize us so much that they feel we need to be taken down a peg. Try living with this curse, I dare you, it will drive you mad, you simply can’t handle it.
Hey if you see artists and creators you like with a verified checkmark, they’re paying for it so that you can continue to see their art for free. Mock randos and big celebrities all you want, don’t mock an artist for using their money so that they’re still in your feed 💖.
Obviously everything I’m saying is true, I’m just being as dramatic as they think we already are. AI bros think we have some gift from the gods that we are hoarding and they act like they finally unlocked it for themselves. They’re a bunch of dorks.
