Inua Jamii Now, Closer, Faster and Easier. Held a press briefing for the roll-out of the Inua Jamii Programme payments through Ecitizen. The initiative aims to make the disbursement of funds to beneficiaries more accessible and efficient, particularly for those in remote areas. By utilizing mobile money agents, the program ensures that vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and persons with severe disabilities, can easily access their stipends without the need to travel long distances to payment centers. The government is committed to improving the social welfare of vulnerable citizens. The roll-out marks a significant step in advancing Kenya’s social protection framework. In attendance were; Director General eCitizen; Ambassador Isaac Ochieng, Government officials

Today, I flagged off 7 new vehicles to support the Nutrition Improvement through Cash Transfer and Health Education (NICHE) program, a cash transfer initiative aimed at improving the nutritional status of children during the critical first 1,000 days of life. These vehicles will play a vital role in strengthening the program's delivery and impact. The vehicles were flagged off to various regions, including Turkana, Kitui, Eastern Region, and other counties where the NICHE program is actively being implemented.

Today, Teresa Magesa, a resident of Makongeni, Nairobi, shared her heartbreaking story of loss and resilience with me in my office after her story was featured on #CitizenDayBreak with @RashidAbdalla @LuluHassan . Teresa has endured tremendous hardships, having lost two children. Her eldest son is both physically disabled and blind following a road accident, and she does not even own a home. In her pursuit of justice for her child, Teresa was deceived by a dishonest lawyer who swindled her out of Ksh 3 million after selling her land, with the hope of securing justice for her son. Unfortunately, the lawyer passed away before the process could be completed. "Teresa's son requires 24-hour care. He needs assistance with feeding, changing clothes, and all daily tasks," Teresa explained. "I also have to find food for them each day." To make matters worse, Teresa’s daughter suffers from mental illness and is unable to care for her two children, leaving Teresa to raise them alone and provide for their basic needs. Moved by her plight my team and I have taken swift action. The National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya (NFDK) has provided Teresa with a wheelchair for her son. Additionally, her two orphaned grandchildren have been enrolled in the Inua Jamii program, which aims to improve the lives of vulnerable children. #DisabilityInclusionKe #inuajamii #SocialProtection #psjosephmotari
