@DagoSupremacy How should she look at her age? I like seeing a woman who hasn't been obviously plastic surgeried into an artificial mask.

@martianwyrdlord It touches so many sore spots that go far beyond tech -- the white males with top grades, SAT's, etc. who were rejected by universities they would have been accepted to 50 years ago, blue-collar workers hurt by illegal immigrants, all sorts of people whose jobs were offshored. .

@ryjlocal I've been watching the NBA and NCAA all my life. I started watching women's basketball a couple of years ago because of Caitlin Clark and then followed her to the WNBA. I saw more shots completely miss the rim in a few months of WNBA play than I had seen in the previous 50 years.

@libsoftiktok Elon talking about the "shallow sympathy" of liberals for criminals, because sympathy for the victims is absent. Right up there with "soft bigotry of low expectations.".

@FischerKing64 There's that old saying about how the British came to accrue the largest and most global empire in the history of the world -- they weren't bright enough to understand that it couldn't be done.

@Cluffalo This is a rule that can be generalized to much of life. I always taught my kids: "Never say no to yourself about something you want to do. You lose every time that way. Make *them* tell you no.".

@NHBullmoose Hunting was for the wealthy. They don't hunt birds, they shoot them. They stand in one place while beaters drive the birds towards them. And the country in which they stalk deer isn't particularly rough. But I agree with your general point. I hunt in ordinary outdoor clothing.

@FischerKing64 A little secret -- if the delicate white Iiberal speech enforcers knew how to speak languages other than English, they'd hear far worse things than that said on the streets of the US every day.

@LeeSmithDC I'm old enough to remember the promise that off-shored manufacturing jobs would be more than replaced with high-tech jobs for American. How short our memories are.

@harmonizedgrace The reverse equivalent would be something where a man makes it clear that he thinks she is the most superhot live-in GF imaginable, and he wouldn't dream of insulting her by suggesting he sees her as a wife and mom.

@FischerKing64 I'm old enough to remember when Scientific American articles were so substantive and well-written that professors would photocopy them and distribute them in upper division college courses in the hard sciences to make sure we were aware of things that weren't yet in textbooks.

@FischerKing64 We had this terrible conductor of our local orchestra ho was supposed to save the organization. In her room at the performance hall, she had a mirror, and she was caught practicing how to make her hair swish a certain way while conducting. Painful.

@martianwyrdlord It really gives me hope. I remember when Obama was re-elected in 2012, a lot of my fellow successful conservative friends decided that the younger generation just didn't give a sh!t about the country or their own futures. Romney was a worthless putz, but Obama had shown us who he.

@ccmembersonly Had an event recently in my organization where a new guy was at an after work party at a bar. A young female dragged him out on the dance floor with her. She gave him her phone number, so he started texting her to ask her out. She reported him, apparently having changed her mind.

@techhsiren When I look at my wife, I still see the 20 yo girl I fell in love with more than 40 years ago. When I look at other women her age, they look like they're in their 60s. Can't explain the magic, but it's real.

@BricksCenter This is my first season watching the WNBA. I've seen more airballs in this one short season than I've seen in a lifetime of watching the NBA and NCAA B-ball. Do these women never practice shooting? These are the "professionals" who were supposed to eat CC alive?.

@FischerKing64 @yagrigull69 When you ranch, you have to put animals down. I could always tell that my dad felt a little sick about it, and I did when I had to do it. Yes, it's part of nature, but killing other living things wasn't what God originally intended for us. In the world to come, that won't happen.

@JamesSurowiecki @eieiyoh No, they're only being asked to pay through taxes and inflation, which will get much worse if this deficit spending continues at its current pace of 2 trillion a year. Inflation has absolutely caused Americans to sacrifice.

@FischerKing64 They keep having to up the volume on their shrieking because fewer and fewer people are listening. The genius of Trump was that he showed you can ignore the social shaming and you won't be destroyed. It changed everything in America. I know it changed me.

@Chosler @jmauren07 @hardingwealth @Conservata18030 I give money to my grown kids all the time. They all started married life debt-free because of it. My parents gave money to us when we needed it, as they were able. But I've also seen parents live in penury so they can leave more to their kids, and that's stupid and wrong.

It was never about being anti-authority for them. They were only anti-authority because they didn't like the basic culture of those in authority and wanted to replace it with a different culture. Now that they have, they are pro-authority.

@hardingwealth @Conservata18030 I've always told my mom that her money is hers and not to pinch pennies to leave a little more to be divided up between a bunch of us kids. Most of my siblings would just waste it anyway, and the one who wouldn't don't need it.

@FischerKing64 I still remember my first vote for Trump in 2016. I was planning to write in somebody like Rand Paul. I watched my hand fill in the box next to Trump's name as though it belonged to someone else. And a voice in my head said, "I'm tired of not being able to say what I think.".

@orthodoxluigi @Mason_McCrazy @WesleyLHuff Stop using Catholic arguments against Protestants. Just stop it. "Infallible magisterium?" You're embarrassing yourself. And the canonicity of this or that book has nothing to do with textual criticism. At all.

@Cernovich I once knew a state legislator like that, who said he'd rather be in the minority with everyone being a pure conservative by his lights but get nothing done, than to be in the majority controlling what gets done but have to compromise. It's so crazy.

@mythanthrope The objective nature of excellence regardless of credentialism. The blood and soil message of Mom's cooking being better for the soul and more fulfilling than any haute cuisine -- extrapolating from that as much as you like. Partly the same story as The Incredibles.

@Partisan_O I knew they were fake and ghey in 2017. A real opposition party would have had hindreds of well-crafted bills lined up like jets at a busy airport waiting to take off. They had both houses, and Trump would have signed them all. Worthless.

@DagoSupremacy Great thread. The grifters to whom you refer fail to mention that their bootstrap stories took place in a different time. There is little chance that I would accomplish what I have in life were I starting out today as a white male. And don't even get me started on marriage. .

@ai4liberty Why surprised? Studies show that most people define rich as beginning at an income about 25-50% more than what they themseles make. Even someone making 10 million a year doesn't consider himself rich, because he knows people who make 50 mill.

@patrickocr @FischerKing64 It is a tongue-in-cheek quip that emphasizes the fact that the English, as a whole, have always been more doers than they are navel-gazers. England has had its share of geniuses, but as your citation of the Industrial Revolution illustrates, even then, it was often a practical.

@sull1vannolan This is the present and will be even more in the future. Being strategic about wealth-building across generations was long a part of the American way. We got lazy in the post-WWII era about it, but wealthy families never neglected it.
