Residents in need of relief from the heat can visit various locations throughout the city to cool off including libraries and community centers, as well as The Four Oaks Day Service Center for those experiencing homelessness.
Heat and humidity build this weekend. Highs in the 80s along the coast, low to mid 90s inland. Heat Indices climb well in the 90s to around 100°. Hotter temps on the way tomorrow, with late day strong to severe storms possible. Remain weather aware and stay hydrated this weekend!
Another round of Heat Advisories are in effect for Sunday. Heat index values 100-108° expected. Wet Bulb Globe Temps also increase slightly, meaning a slightly greater overall heat stress is expected. We also have a small chance for isolated showers and storms late Sun/Sun night.
