Nigerians, please know ya lane & stay in it. Let’s stop calling everyone or ourselves experts when we are not.
EXPERTS: those on steps 4 & 5
ANALYSTS: can be on step 2 or 3 depending on how much experience they have
ENTHUSIASTS: are on step 2
Most citizens are step 1 or less.

PDP is really blowing out APC in Osun West (Adeleke’s base)while seemingly splitting Osun East (Omisore’s base) and Osun Central (Oyetola’s base). Not looking good for APC so far.
Note: Osun West has the lowest registered voters & PVC collection.
Still amazes me that a lot of people still don’t know the difference between Nigerian federation revenue (ie FG+SG+LG) and FG independent revenue.
The N318.5 bln is FG independent revenue.
Also, the N2.691 trln is FG independent revenue for the whole year not for Q1.
Just finished reading this judgement. I agree with the judge’s ruling. NYSC was completely wrong here.
Both sides agreed that Mbah started his NYSC in 2001, did 6 months & then requested for a 1 yr deferment which was granted in 2002. After 1 yr, he was granted reinstatement.
Everyone is talking about the “proper price” of petrol (PMS) given the high oil price.
Here is a SIMPLE formula to determine the minimum cost of a liter of PMS.
Naira/liter = NairaEx Rate * (Crude Oil Price + 60)/160
NB: This is the base cost & does not include profit margin.
This is the WRONG way to take a biometric verification photo

There has to be good contrast btw the face & the background for the algorithm to work fast. There is none here.
@SituationRoomNg
The rigging in Rivers state (and the SS geopol zone) in 2015 was amazing. They claimed ‘failure’ of the SCR and stuffed the ballot boxes or just filled in false votes. They could not do so in 2019 after INEC made changes. Note the huge drop off in the SS turnout in 2019 vs 2015.
It does not make any sense and is incorrect. We currently produce 1.4 mln bpd. If that represents 5% of what we actually produce, then it means we actually produce 28 mln bpd and 26.6 mln bpd is stolen. I am ashamed that Nigerians cannot do this simple math.
@FinPlanKaluAja1
Why is this difficult to believe?
Have we not also lost 95% of our schools and hospitals?
Nigeria is a vast ungoverned space; we’re in failed state territory
Thank you!! Nothing beats data. This should help the debate.
I would have expected every SW and NC state to have split religion tickets at the gov-deputy gov level if this was an issue in Nigeria.
The verdict is in , there are more Christian Governors and Deputies in Nigeria .Ondo , Ekiti, Plateau ,Edo with sizable Muslim populations did not catch the same flak that Elrufai got for picking a Muslim-Muslim ticket . Some Nigerians are Just Hypocrites.
9JAlytics simulated the 2023 presidential election 50k times using varying geopol zone turnouts (TO) & probable vote shares (VS) for the 4 main parties. Lots of insights from the simulations (too many to describe here). It is really tough to see how LP & NNPP can win.
Thread....
It’s such comments on PMS price by supposed EXPERTS (marketers) that make me doubt many Nigerians who hold themselves out as experts in many fields.
Crude oil at $80/bbl is equivalent to N601/liter at N1200 FX rate. Yet you expect a product from crude to sell at less than cost?
The only two geopol zones that showed increased total votes in 2019 vs 2015 were the NW & NE. All other zones had lower. Any good strategist will pander to the NW & NE.
Tinubu knows what he is doing. The zones that refuse to vote will shout & still stay home in February 2023.
It took Egypt 3 months to go from MOU to Agreement. It took Nigeria 18 months to go from MOU to Agreement.
While we know that the death of ABBA Kyari and Covid delayed things, the government FAILED by not communicating a revised timeline!!!
These were the phases for the PPI/Siemens deal. It has been an ABJECT failure to date.
Siemens did it for Egypt in less than 3 years (panel 4).
Even discounting for Covid, we are on year 4 with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Nigeria is currently borrowing for consumption (recurrent expenditure). We need to increase revenue to cover consumption. However, the bottom line is that Peter Obi failed woefully to increase revenue in Anambra state. He has no track record on growing IGR above expenditure.
In 2015, I believed that Buhari would boost our grid power production within 4 years.
OBJ met ~1600MW & left ~2200MW (37.5% improvement)
UMYA/GEJ met ~2200MW & left ~4500MW (104.5% improvement)
Buhari met ~4500 MW & left ~4500 MW (0% improvement after 8 years!)

🤣 Abeg, you guys should let us rest with this PPI/Siemens deal propaganda.
There was never a pilot phase. Our “pilot phase” was what Siemens did in Egypt. The concept was essentially proven. All of a sudden a pilot phase has been introduced into the narrative. No make us vex o!
UPDATE ON THE SIEMENS DEAL;-
The project was supposed to be in two phases excluding the pilot phase, however it is still stalled at the pilot phase.
The pilot phase involves offshore importation of 10 power transformers and 10 mobile substations to be used as a Proof of Concept

The type of fertilizer from the Morocco deal (phosphate based) is different from the Dangote fertilizer (urea or nitro based).
Normally both will be blended together with other components to obtain an NPK (nitro-phos-ka) fertilizer which can be better. That is part of the plan.

Actually, that is exactly like Nigeria. As of 2019, 67% (2/3) of Nigeria’s debt was domestic. Check the DMO’s Debt Management Strategy 2020-2023.
The target is 60% domestic debt. I don’t know how this narrative that “most of our debt is external” was created that.

FEDERATION REVENUE in the 1940s included customs revenue & tax revenue. As shown below, tax revenue ~GBP 1.8 mln was ~17% of total revenue (~GBP 9 mln).
The Northern region contributed 71% of TAX revenue NOT federation revenue.
Nigeria withdrew from the regional government when the North was abundant in agricultural resources due to concerns about economic inequality and marginalization.
Also, in 1943, the North contributed 71% to the federation account, while the Eastern and Western regions

It is better described as a CBN u-turn. It was actually introduced by Meffy & not “the Lagos boys”.

First, he sued Buni (the wrong person) in National APC.
Second, by the recent rules issued by the NJC, this court did not have jurisdiction to hear the case. It should have been filed in Abuja because National APC is based outside Abia state.
Court sacks winner of APC Governorship Primaries, Ikechi Emenike, in Abia State for not being a member of APC. Hours after Emenike polled 672 votes from the delegates and defeated Atoma 150, Ikonne 22, Ekeh 16, Alex Otti 14, Oriako 12 and Uche Ogah 6, he got disqualified.

I don’t believe them. 600 x N150k is N90 mln each month just for interns? What will the 600 interns be doing? Carrying barrels of crude?
A conventional oil refinery needs roughly 4-5 staff per 1000 bbls.
Duport completes modular refinery in Edo to begin with 2,500bpd and eventually scale to its 10,000bpd goal. Some 600 Nigerian undergraduates from the 6 geopolitical zones will be paid N150k monthly to undergo internship here every year , as operations will begin this month.
One of the things that excites me about Segment 1 of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road is that it makes the proposed Lagos Green Line (Marina to Lekki) more feasible.

The below December 2023 World Bank report is showing the same 24.5% rural electricity access as in 2020.
during which about 75% (73.2%) of urban dwellers gained access to electricity and about 25% (24.5%) of rural areas gained access to electricity. A similar report, in June 2023, showed that about 70 per cent of 40 million Tanzanians living in rural areas have received access to
Dangote refinery finally got approval to start up its FCC unit so it looks like they are set for ~50% PMS output (without an FCC you get only ~30% PMS output).
The only question now is how much of their input capacity they are running at. Looks like the plan is 500k by July.
Now I am starting to understand why Dangote wants a 100% capture of the Nigerian market for AGO. The market is very tight & he might have to heavily discount his 10ppm diesel to sell it overseas (drastically lowering his margins).
🤣 The depressed flash points are very easy to explain. They mixed PMS & diesel. Retailers do this to get better profit. Essentially buying PMS at NNPCL’s ~N650 & selling it at ~N1400.
It has loooong been speculated that this is what we have been getting by subsidizing PMS!!
Test Results from AGO (Diesel) samples collected in some filling stations.
Sulphur Content for AGO (Diesel) collected from Matrix and Total was found to be 2,631ppm and 1,829ppm respectively while that of Dangote stood at 87.6ppm. Meanwhile the Standard Specification should not
Looks like Dangote refinery is still at ~350,000 bpd capacity.
Last 3 paragraphs made me LOL. So all the shouting about “dirty diesel” was for show? They have not even reached 200ppm (talk less of 10ppm). 😂
Please how are you going to fund this increase in people & resources? Borrowing? Increasing revenue? Cutting cost in other areas? If the latter two, how are you going to increase revenue/cut costs?
Your website still has nothing other than a “Donate” button and book for sale 😀.
@OvieNews
Please note the PIB does not say anything about “oil producing communities”. It talks about “HOST communities”.

What about the valid concerns about lack of network in some areas? How do you recommend we overcome that problem? Do we cancel elections in areas that have no network to send results electronically or do we live with some electronic and some manual transmission?
@DrCOmole
I am confused. Why do you say APC had 2 candidates? Did INEC have two candidates for APC? Is a party candidate not who the party submits to INEC?
Nigerians always say “Government should WIDEN the tax net & not increase taxes”.
Widening the tax net means that people who dodge taxes & areas with tax holidays are reduced to a minimum.
Applying VAT to diesel IS WIDENING the tax net.
Our wishes have been granted!
Temporarily (for 6 months)? Why bother? It will make no real difference in prices if importers know it is just for 6 months. Importers will be the only ones to benefit (“I still have old stock” so I can’t lower prices”).
You either remove it completely or leave it alone.
I am surprised EFCC isn’t going after the school for violating §7 of the Money Laundering Act 2022 (at least)!
They are missing a huge opportunity to send a message to non-financial institutions on what the MLA requires of them.
In 2016, the UK produced ~1 mln bpd of crude & had a refining capacity >1.1 mln bpd of crude.
Yet, they still imported almost 0.8 mln bpd of crude for their refineries.
Why?
Their refineries get better margins by using crude (e.g. WTI) that is cheaper than their Brent crude.

Wow! Manufacturers get an average 8.5 hrs of electricity per day!
If we assume this is continuous during business hours (very unlikely), then they operate on diesel generators for 3.5 hrs out of a 12 hr work day.
I love statistics that make it easier to understand our problems!
The narrative that our federal employee count is “overbloated” baffles me. The data says different.
The US FG employs ~1 worker/300 citizens
The UK unitary govt employs ~1 worker/60 citizens
Nigeria FG employs ~1 worker/140 citizens
NHS England employees more people than our FG
From Seplat’s own acquisition presentation.
The ExxonMobil Nigeria assets that Seplat wants to buy have NEVER produced up to 300,000 in the best of times. By 2021 they were doing less than 100,000 bpd. So where did the press you are quoting from get their 480,000 bpd from?
Wow so a whole 140 Oil Wells belonging to NNPC/ ExxonMobil JV were shut down for over 2.5 years now while SEPLAT and EXXONMOBIL waited for NNPC Limited to approve the deal?
The cost to the economy was loss of 480,000 bpd and whooping $34Billion ( $12 Billion annually) over

@simonkolawole

In the US, they were all headed by a “boss” (the godfather).
In Japan, they were all headed by a “shadow shogun” (the godfather).
Wow. The roads in the foreground are parallel (making it look like a planned city). I have always thought that Onitsha was an unplanned city with everything haphazardly put together.
Actually, no. Don’t overhype or overblow it. The NET FX gain will not be “massive”.
Net FX gain = FX from export of refined products minus FX used to buy the crude that produced the exports.
Y’all keep forgetting that Dangote needs FX to buy his crude & repay his ~$10 bln loan.
Why no reference to his letter to the ADC leadership in his ward in Anambra state? This reads like a clash of personalities between him and the National chairman.
🤣 That is where he lost me. I couldn’t believe it when he FALSELY claimed that IOCs were trying to sabotage him.
He even used “mafia” & “cartel” in the same sentence!!
Initially, I didn’t believe it when I read it in our press. I had to watch the videos.
This Madu/Anyala field that just started producing 20,000 bpd after 6 years is costing $1 billion to develop.
Imagine how much it would cost to develop the 500,000 bpd needed to get us to 2 mln bpd.
That is why I don’t countenance all that stuff the 2 mln bpd geng claims.
@gimbakakanda
But the sample sizes used by

Are the steel sheets rolled and welded into a tube in Nigeria?
Are the tubes imported into Nigeria and then have the threads (if any) cut in Nigeria?

Not politicians. Nigerians. Nigerians treat data with contempt. I am still amazed by the number of ‘educated’ people in my WhatsApp groups that do not believe in data. We prefer to base our conclusions on ‘feelings’ rather than data.
😁 Dangote just assumed responsibility for ANY change in the price of diesel.
He better make sure that oil prices or exchange rate doesn’t go up because he won’t be able to convince people why he is not price gouging them “like he does with cement” when diesel prices increase.
Finally! We have data on the number of civil servants at state level. States have an average of ~100,000 staff. Thanks to CreditCorp for providing us the data.
Note: Nigerian FG has ~1.5 mln employees. The number below are just civil servants.
So ~5.5 mln employed by FG & SGs!
Absolutely!! It can also increase oil & gas production. It can even increase security & food production & reduce poverty.
In short, it will solve ALL our current problems. Let’s build coastal roads (and coastal airports) all over Nigeria. Nansense & ingredients!
I am still rubbing my eyes to convince myself that I read this wrong in the papers or that it was reported incorrectly.

Refinery production (full capacity) ~50 mln l/d
