Updates on the transit infrastructure and public transport in Navi Mumbai
Joined October 2018
Churchgate - Virar - 83 kms - 1 hour 30 mins CST - Kalyan - 60 kms - 57 mins CST - Panvel - 47 kms - 1 hour 33 mins The airport and panvel terminus are getting ready in the next few years, for them to be successful the harbour line capacity needs to be augmented in a huge way.
Major failures daily in the harbour line with no plan for any capacity addition or alternative mass transit. With the airport incoming and loads of mass housing projects, it is an urgent need to plan a fast line and other metro connectivity between NM and rest of MMR.

@Amey_Kulkarni05 @jayadevanp signalling improvements can reduce headway from 180 to 150 and eventually 120 which can reduce the super dense crush load. the cost is just 6000 crores, chump change for the financial capital of the country. needs to be done stat, and then bring in AC locals, will see no protests

@RfYuvrajShinde @SohamR20031 @Amey_Kulkarni05 Speed also has a much higher upper limit, which is necessary for such a large urban metropolitan area to connect all parts quickly and comfortably

@victortangodkm yes of course, tracks need to be upgraded. rolling stock presently also has a upper limit of 110 kmph, need to take it upto 200 kmph for fast lines.

@SohamR20031 @Amey_Kulkarni05 speed is the aspect that will make people living further away well connected without having to spend 2-3 hours one way in crowded transit. the infamous "mumbai in minutes" plan was supposed to address this but has only planned it wrt road projects :(

@bhaumikgowande It's the typical bjp supporting infrajeet code. All positives because of bjp politicians, all negatives because of 1. Nehru and earlier congress govts 2. Bureaucrats 3. Opposition

@gp30543 not EVs, but in diesel/cng its possible, maybe 3 months is too ambitious but 9-12 months easily possible. total bus manufacturing capacity if we include body builders is about 1 lac per year.

BMC has doubled its budget in the past 5 years (even after loss of octroi) yet they don't have money to buy buses. 5000 CNG buses will cost only 2500 crore (including the 40% cut for politicians :)) Will do wonders to reducing the air pollution and traffic congestion in mumbai.
The @mybmc, India’s richest municipal corporation, will present its 2025-26 budget today at 11 AM. Last year’s budget was ₹60,000 crore—the highest ever. An increase is expected this year. This marks Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani’s first budget and the third consecutive one under the administrator.

@mayonouns1 @ganzaa005 @mayurekbote @Ajinkya_027 Locals on a Sunday are very good especially in this slightly cooler weather but mostly a mindset problem. Can't blame them as the locals on other days can be daunting so mindset is set

@ArunNambiar i would disagree as MMRCL has centre stake also. that brings in a different equation as priorities do not match.
