I'm an old GP. I was told to 'go on Twitter' to raise awareness of my patient's plight. I eventually managed to retire from my practice- but still work pt time.

@bengoldacre Given that this policy aims to stop tax dodgers buying farmland, why not offer: "If your land has been farmed by your family for over 25 years, you can be exempted from inheritance tax for as long as the land is used as your farm - but you'll pay tax if you sell or develop"?

@moogyboobles @LegalGengar What was the FOI question, Tracy? (Whatever the question, I'm not surprised that there wasn't a quick answer.)

@chrismccausland @RoyLilley Fantastic achievement! There’s nothing left to say that’s original - so I’ll settle for: “Well done you and well done Dianne!!!”

@taylorswift13 @KensingtonRoyal To avoid a calamitous Trump presidency, Biden must hand over to a younger candidate - one who is already instantly recognisable & immensely popular - who politicians and royalty worldwide will fawn over. I suggest Taylor Swift. Retweet!

@Scotland @Lenniesaurus The 'Scots words' are all terrific - you're an excellent teacher & you lighten our days! Like everyone in the public eye you'll get mindless criticism - which can be enervating - but don't let the bastards grind you down. Rise above it. Your fans far outnumber the trolls!!!

@txsportsdoc When I started life as a GP I saw letters in the notes from the local hospital. They stated that it was run by "Matron and Hospital Superintendent". I suspect these were people who earned respect because, in a crisis, they could roll their sleeves up and make themselved useful.

@caitlinmoran Since ’Spare’ was published there have been calls for Harry to be stripped of his title. If his detractors get their way, what will he be called from now on? One suggestion was: ‘The Piss Artist formerly known as Prince.’

@caitlinmoran As a rule I invariably agree with CM but ... Vasectomy reversal is not usually available on the NHS, and private health insurance companies don’t usually fund it either. Many clinics in the UK charge around £3,000 or more.

@sarahinroyal Very sad - but she did amazingly well to raise awareness of a disease that we ignore at our peril - and, in so doing, has done an enormous amount of good. Sadly we are seeing more bowel cancer in the young - and again, she has shone a light on this. A short but beautiful life!

@IsabelHardman The NHS failing mothers is nothing new - and failing to get managers to listen isn't new either. In the town where I practiced for 40 years, when ANC became dangerously poor I could only get their attention by videoing my patients telling of their experiences by way of a threat.
