Things you miss about UKS2 teaching. Multiplying fractions by integers can be a tricky concept to understand but this really helped children understand the structure to these types of questions. I am firm believer that resources are for all children ๐Ÿงฎ

Square numbers . This is one of my favourite activities that I was shown by @pdLouiseP. The power of using odd tiles to build squares showed children, for example, that the 5th squared number is a 5by5 square and that the first 5 odd numbers equal 25!. Highly recommend

The end of another year โค๏ธ. Great memories this year, which included:. โ€ข Camping on the school field. โ€ข Watching a child in the class perform in at the theatre. The Year 4 learning journey proved to be a great way to help children remember some of the great stuff we did.

Get to the point with adding decimals . #CPDin15mins tonight was looking at how tiles and pegs allows children to see the value of ten and when its โ€˜fullโ€™ we need to move to the next column. Why not create a fairground?๐ŸŽข๐ŸŽก๐ŸŽ . Comparing area, โž•and โž– work in our last area lesson. The ch loved creating their own school fete using a 10x10 grid. Numicon helped to manipulate the space and work out how to fit rides into a given area. They then presented it in books

Position and direction. We used the tiles + boards to introduce coordinates today. The ch selected a point on a tile and described it using coordinates. Why the tiles? It links to steps when spotting vertices. Tip: Letters + numbers on the X and Y axis, show clear misconceptions

๐Ÿ™ We built this city out of Numicon ๐Ÿ™. Loved spending the morning in FS today โค๏ธ . โ€ข Working with numbers 1-5.โ€ข Part-Part-Whole model.โ€ข Number Bonds. It was great to talk to and watch children build number towers with tiles and pegs and make PPW models as rain clouds ๐ŸŒง

๐Ÿบ The big bad wolf ๐Ÿบ . We retrieved our knowledge of tones using water colours and applied it to our wolf paintings. These awesome character descriptions now look great. Canโ€™t wait for the children to read and show them to FS children!. Credit to @Teacherglitter for the idea!

โœ๏ธ Loved using the zone of relevance today in English! โœ๏ธ . The children had previously built up a bank of words and phrases and they then made their own decisions on the the language they liked the best. This will now be used to write a characterisation piece! โ„๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘‘
