…seeing 😮 when a seemingly small leaf had a perimeter of 75cm was brilliant! Great concept intro & way to make it stick that perimeter is a measurable distance!

Converting between mixed numbers & improper fractions is quite possibly my favourite use of Numicon shapes.
Every child can succeed by breaking it down to a question every child can answer: how many pegs?

Couldn’t have said it better myself. A buzzing maths lesson today ... we converted between mixed numbers and improper fractions. By the end of the lesson the children were confidently adapting the
