🧵 I am committed to using my term in office to help shift away from the violent, racist history of the MPD towards a public safety system that really protects and serves all working class people in Mpls. My constituents tell me on a daily basis that this is their top priority.

🚩No corresponding plan for legislative function. Gov restructure discussed as impacting both executive (Mayoral) & legislative (Council), but current proposal has no updates on the leg side, lacks robust programs and resources that Council needs to best serve constituents.

Out here with @UnRestrictMN and many more ready to fight for justice. Make no mistake, there are things we can do on the local level to protect access to safe abortions. I am committed to fighting at City Hall and working with people across the state to do just that.

Thousands of residents, orgs & city staff pushed for public safety beyond policing for decades. City now promoting slogans from 2020 protests nearly verbatim. Mayor & city have finally conceded that the movement was right about public safety all along.

Update from today's presentation by MN Dept of Human Rights of the findings of the state’s investigation into MPD: The presentation summarized many of the key findings of the state’s investigation which confirmed a pattern and practice of racism, sexism, and misogyny within MPD.
