I used to have the best curries ever in Brick Lane when I lived in that area in the late seventies/early eighties. I absolutely loved the diversity of the area, different clothes, different foods. My lovely neighbours were from many different cultures and countries. It was fab!

I lived in the east end of London in the late 70s, a wonderful cosmopolitan place filled with Jewish people, people from various parts of the Indian sub continent, West Indian people, white people…that’s what made it a fabulous place to live, with a marked lack of bigotry.

My kids went to a wonderful village school with an excellent headmaster. He knew every child’s name, in spite of an unusual # of twins (3 identical sets in my boys’ class alone), & was extraordinarily kind & great fun. If they had a head like that awful woman I’d have moved them!

I think the anticipation of grief is just as painful in many ways. I remember two nights before my mum died I was inconsolable, knowing that she would soon be gone. 15 years ago, and I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it. We start to mourn as soon as we anticipate loss.x

My husband is playing Hocus Pocus by the band Focus. Came to request my approval and I told him that my late mum ( would have been 102 this year) was a fan and actually had this album. He’s wandered off chuckling and blowing heavenly kisses to my mum. She really was something! ❤️

I’m 67. Clearly the “illegal immigrants” he refers to are asylum seekers. We had safe routes for desperate people in those days, so they used those routes instead of small boats, but they are all legal unless claims have been processed and found illegal. A manufactured problem.

I cried my eyes out when we dropped my sons off at uni. In my defence it was instant empty nest - my sons are twins and went to the same uni - but they were almost 19 (September birthday) so I confess to being the soppiest mother. I’d rather that though than be a distant one!

I saw him about 40 years ago in Soho Square. I recognised him as someone I knew but not a TV star. I said “oh, it’s err…”. He turned back as he walked past and said the same thing back to me, as he chuckled to himself. Great guy!
