This simply is not true even at face value. If a bidder turns down a social house, it gets offered to the next in line and so forth. The only way his statement would be true is if there were 1000’s of habitable empty social housing units. To be clear, Vardkar knows this.

In Hiberno-English, the plural form "lads" is non-gender-specific, like "ils" in French. Sometimes plural vs singular forms add valuable context as well as just indicating numbers: the way "I have to wash my hand" sounds worse than "I have to wash my hands", for example.

@lollyfitz13 Internalised misogyny is rife when a female doesn’t believe you ffs. I don’t expect fellow females to blindly believe but it’s extremely easy to believe anything like this as it’ll have happened to ALL of us in some form, textbook repetitive stuff globally.

@hnnhwr Also those parents would then handpick specific friends children who were deemed the chosen ones to live with their kids in college and it ensured a lot all lived/socialised in the same bubble and ended up marrying within the same social bubble etc. Social engineering.

@aoifegracemoore @newschambers My favourite responses were the angry ‘our wedding is now called off now @newschambers for the 4th time, hope you’re proud of yourself!🤬’ type, as if he was Taoiseach Richard Chambers, setting the restrictions.

@ctcantwell This is truly awful Carmel. I’m glad she has such supportive family such as yourself who hear her pain. I hope she gets some peace before it’s too late. Take care 💜.

@newschambers ‘Domestic violence is a criminal offence and Ibec respectfully submits that it is simply not appropriate to bring criminality into the employment relationship.” What a horrific statement.

@GerryMcBride @SharonHorgan Was in a border rural pub in Blacklion, Cavan on NYE years ago and national anthem played. I was there with an English ex and he didn’t stand up as he was confused what was happening. His life flashed before my eyes in that moment as he was already on thin ice obviously.
