There’s still votes to be counted but we’re moving on to November!
Special thanks to all my friends, family, teachers and supporters who believed in me. If I’m lucky enough to serve on the Board of Education, I hope you continue to push and hold me accountable.

As a kid, I stood on the picket line w/my mom to fight for benefits & fair wages for families just like ours. Today, I picked my kids up from school & we proudly marched w/teachers because budget cuts hurt our teachers, kids & families.

A Friday 610pm notice to principals to cut a teacher in the next few days is an embarrassment & insult to MCPS principals, educators, students & families. When times get tough, leaders know that we must

& not from our most valuable & vulnerable.

Many thanks to the 67.97% of MoCo voters demanding a fresh voice in the At-Large seat on the Board of Ed ✅ Accountability, leadership, oversight & transparency are long overdue 🕰️ We must rebuild public trust & prioritize our teachers, staff & students 🍎

Community advocacy in action! 100+ people showed up to fight against Oakview ES’ loss of 24-25 Title 1 status & secure funding. Summer school, afterschool tutoring, parent-principal coffees, and STEM classes are all potentially cut. Thanks

Bigger class sizes will undoubtedly affect students with 504s and IEP’s as overburdened teachers will understandably have a hard time complying with the various requirements while managing increased class sizes. Our kids deserve better.

It’s an honor to be awarded the 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction. Gun violence prevention and gun safety are critical to providing kids with safe school environments.

One thing we all agree on is that our kids need schools with fully staffed teachers and reduced class sizes. Please March to Support MCPS Educators on Monday 6/10 from 430-630 at Veterans Plaza.

Gun violence traumatizes kids. My heart broke listening to my 5yo, in 2019, tell me what he would do if a shooter entered while he was in the school bathroom. Please listen to

It is an honor to be endorsed by Progressive Neighbors. I support grassroots community organizing & agree we need “schools that give all students an opportunity to reach their full potential” & that “local elections are where we can have the most impact.”

People deserve to be safe, especially our most vulnerable humans—our children. Please use your voice, in whatever way suits you, to protect our kids from machine guns and violence.

🎯 re ESSER funded programs. These types of special source funding – – to include grants, scholarships, etc. – – absolutely create fiscal cliffs when, after the first year or two, there is no more funding but programs are expected or relied upon to continue. Major mismanagement.

Balancing the budget requires hard conversations and decisions but we can’t do that without all of the information. Please require more oversight and transparency. Our kids deserve it.

After many requests by MCCPTA, I’m grateful to MD Leg & Gov for stepping in to force the MoCo BOE to provide gun safety info to families. Signed 4/25/24, HB0416 req’s public school systems to inform parents of MD gun storage laws each school year.

I agree with you. Until we get that information, that audit, that accountability, it’s our kids who suffer. I’m going to keep fighting to get all of that—as I know many of you will too—but until then our kids’ schools need more funding. We really are fighting for the same thing.
@SchShosh
Exactly. And many also have kids in MCPS. Consistency is key for kids and having to move and change schools is not good for our teachers’ children either.
MS Social Studies teacher: don’t defund Go Guardian. Make more difficult for students to learn. Biggest challenge is keep kids attn. Teachers need to be able to monitor. MCPS: agree—not removing monitoring tool; using different cheaper tool next yr.
Just as we should not cry about the cut of the MCPS medical office when we don’t bat an eye at cutting a school for sick kids, we should not highlight a program as a MCPS badge of honor when its students & staff are fighting for it to stay alive.

I’d also forgo the $50k rent for the new BOE space and hold mtgs at high schools—like the budget forum held at Blair HS. That obviously doesn’t get us to 30 million but you can see where I’m going with this…

It’s unfortunate we have to say this but BOE must follow the law & MVA community must have access to current data so they can advocate for their students, staff & school. I marched w/MVA today & it sounds like they got data to the BOE on their own? It shouldn’t be this hard.
@bnhowe
@ModeratelyMoco
The lack of engagement on the issue by the BOE is very concerning. I hope they show up to the community meeting next Friday. I will be there.

The reduction of teachers; cutting the medical office; cutting MVA—those are allocations which are less than they were previously. I agree the overall budget allocated by the County Council is not less (or a “cut”) but the categorical allocations by MCPS & BOE are.

Why are people who have disabilities still not treated well in public school, even after all these years of progress?
It makes me sad when I look at the news and see stories about students who have autism and other disabilities not being treated well in school.
