I have no talent for drawing, so I hired someone to draw the comic I wanted to produce, this here. My Story. I put together a team I could afford to compensate, and spent my own money doing it. I didn't crowdfund for it.

Unlike EVS, Eric is only a writer of comics, and he didn't even write Alpha Corps. He doesn't draw, ink, or color them. A Brazilian sweatshop produces July's comics.

I call these "double-ups" and occasionally, a "triple-up" where a specific noun or verb is used so often that a reader starts to fade out of immersion in your text.

So true. I'm now part of the proud few (albeit on a small scale) to do so. A decade ago and longer, I didn't believe it possible without finding some way to get into a company.
Now, I want to keep doing it. Which I have to regulate myself on. I'd bankrupt myself to make more.
The barrier of entry has been lowered (or eliminated) for being an independent creative.
Need to build a brand? There's social media and video platforms.
Need teammates? There are several platforms to network.
Need funding? Crowdfund.

My daughter needed adenoid surgery as a young child, too young to have it safely. As a result of sinus blockage, she had 30% hearing capability and a lisp in K-1st grade.
