Rent is underappreciated as an issue that drives young voters. What's wild about the current rent surge across the U.S. is how it's not even being acknowledged by the gerontocracy (who clearly don't concern themselves with such things.)

Beneficiaries of nepotism are the last people who should be making aspersions about someone's presumed lack of qualifications for a job.

Meghan McCain: "We’ve only had one Asian American host co-host host this show. Does that mean one of us should be leaving because there’s not enough representation? We're talking about -- is identity politics more important than the qualifications for the job?"

Context: Biden’s “no federal solution” comment was referring to how states need to implement federal pandemic relief policy. BUT this implies that we have robust federal policies waiting to be implemented by states. We don’t, people know it, and they’re angry.

I appreciate a lot of what the Wu administration has done, but the deferential approach to policing in this city is severely disappointing and disturbing. I hope others who volunteered and voted for @wutrain on the promise of progress are ready to vocally push back against this.

There are some conversations happening at high levels (ie, city hall) about how Boston could be more of a Winter City and personally, I think having more places for people to congregate after standard work hours that aren’t bars would make winter a lot more pleasant here.

Public access can’t be blocked. Violations of city ordinances must be addressed. Tents in public right of ways must come down immediately. #bospoli

It's ridiculously hard to go to the beach in Massachusetts. So for @GlobeIdeas , I wrote about how the state could launch a beach bus program to expand public access to beaches where towns put up barriers like non-resident parking bans.

Proposal: Send everyone a package that includes rapid tests, N95 masks, and a $5,000 check. Call it a pandemic holiday bonus. Idk. Just do it.

Shameful. No mayor is great on policing, but the way in which @wutrain keeps abetting the BPD and overlooking its well-documented excesses is completely unaccepable.

Mayor Michelle Wu and Police Commissioner Michael Cox made the call to remove the pro-Palestinian tent encampment at Emerson College together, the mayor’s office said amid pushback on the removal of tents and the arrests of more than 100 protestors.

This is fine BUT here's another idea: We get rid of the limit on liquor licenses altogether, throw a bone to the current license holders, and allow Boston to make decisions about nightlife with full autonomy, like any other city.

Massachusetts lawmakers said they have reached a deal to dramatically expand the number of liquor licenses in Boston, agreeing to add 225 new permits over three years, including many in the city’s underserved neighborhoods.

This piece by @MilesKlee succinctly cuts to the bone of why Mayor Pete is a nightmare for many young people. As someone who wrote a book about today's young voters and the forces that shaped our politics, I'd like to offer some additional words on this. 1/

Healey is governing like someone who never made a strong case for themselves on the campaign trail because they didn’t have to; because the state party cleared the field for them. Not only is the shelter limit cruel, but it’s wildly lacking in political instinct. Horrific optics.

MA paid $5 million to a consulting firm to tell it how to kick people out of emergency shelter. Just reprehensible. #mapoli

The MBTA transit meltdown is the true legacy of Charlie Baker, who came up with the idea saddling our transit authority with highway development debt. It's also the fault of state legislature leaders like Ron Mariano and Karen Spilka, who haven't prioritized operational funding.

MBTA in absolute shambles this morning. Green line shut for construction. Orange and red lines hobbled because of electrical issues at DTX. A joke of a commute.

At a certain point, Massachusetts liberals either need to get real about who Baker actually is...or stop pretending to be liberal. Electing Republican governors and centrist reps has consequences: like police reform and substantive abortion protections not being passed #mapoli

They say you get more conservative with age, but the older I’ve gotten, the harder I’ve found it to accept the lack of winter culture in Greater Boston. It would take a lot of civic investment but we could make these long, dark, freezing months so much prettier and happier.
