To be fair to Matt Zarb-Cousin, he & others had a fairly good crack at that with the last general election, achieving the worst result since 1935 & giving this country over to the Tories for the next couple of years at arguably the most crucial time in the 21st century to date…
I’m pretty sure
@DrRosena
was calling for a longer self-isolation period months ago as the government’s advice didn’t match that of the WHO.
This government is a shambles.
Arrogant, rude and out of touch. James Cleverly’s remark exposes the Conservative’s attitude towards working people, places across the country and people in poverty.
Time for another Home Secretary to be sacked.

There’s big problems with Wakeford’s voting record & yes all defectors should face by-elections ideally but if we hammer out the point that changing your mind from Tory to Labour is a bad thing, then how can we convince former Conservative voters to make the same move?
Christian Wakeford MP should not be admitted to the Labour Party. He has consistently voted against the interests of working-class people; for the £20 universal credit cut, for the Nationality and Borders Bill and for the Police and Crime Bill. Young Labour does not welcome him.
Rochdale has gone from having a dedicated & respected public servant to having a self-serving, divisive troublemaker.
George Galloway serves only himself. We can only be thankful he won’t be an MP long before a General Election comes & Rochdale faces a proper election choice.
This is utter bollocks.
LGB Alliance are a hate group who seek to create hatred & division within the LGBT+ community & wider public.
There is no justification for the Shadow Equalities Secretary to meet them.
As a CLP LGBT+ Rep & Pride Organiser, this concerns me greatly.
NEW: A Labour spokesperson says it is “right” for Anneliese Dodds to meet “with a whole range of organisations” in her role as Shadow Equalities Secretary, following criticism by LGBT+ Labour of her decision to meet with the LGB Alliance group: 👇

Maybe try pushing them to implement democracy, instil human rights, LGBT rights and stop locking up trade unionists?
Too difficult? Then try sticking to the issues that are impacting young people right now, like tuition fees, education, jobs, climate change, a real living wage..
4 weeks, 330,944 steps, a record 30,700+ steps in a single day, 8,000+ leaflets, hundreds of doors knocked on…
…and still 1 day left. Proud of the campaign we’ve run and ready to get out the vote tomorrow🌹

Still haven’t seen a strong condemnation, regardless of whether you know him or not, he is doing this in your name.
Ok, nervous about this. So today is

I have never been open about this, or even talked about it much & only a few people know.
Hate to even have to do this but this is me coming out (on Twitter at least) - I’m gay.

GCSE & A-level results? Climate Change? Education? Tuition Fees? Real Living Wage? Any relevant issue for young people?
Nope - just another post and work on Cuba, expressing solidarity with a one-party state and dictatorship…
…again… 🙄🤦🏻♂️
Was a pleasure to meet with the Cuban ambassador and political secretary today, who thanked us for our statement of solidarity and discussed campaigning to end the blockade. Looking forward to working together in the future!
@sophielouisecc
Repeat after me: it was literally organised by a far-right group.
Also I’m guessing that setting fire to a police van was also ‘protecting young girls’ right?
@GeorgeAylett
Happens to be the same misinformation used by Lawrence Fox - why would you be trying to smear Starmer with this nonsense now of all times?
Great to see LGBT+ Labour out at Pride In London.
The replies and comments however are awful. Since when did people start gatekeeping about which members of the LGBT+ community should and shouldn’t be welcome at Pride? 🙄
It was a pleasure to march at

Hardly any criticism of the Taliban here at all - all based on US imperialism.
Believe it or not - but human rights and women’s rights have been enjoyed far more during the last 20 years in Afghanistan than they will be under the Taliban.

She’s the chief officer of CHALC who provides governance advice for Cheshire town and parish councils - she was acting as the clerk to assist the council as I believe their clerk is currently suspended.
That’s what we want to hear, Dodds confirming support for self id and that trans rights are human rights - now we need the action to back it up, Starmer must remove the whip from transphobes like Duffield.

Let’s explain some simple geography - Liverpool is a part of our country. Nice way to insult an entire city.
Plus the UK is hosting on behalf of Ukraine so it won’t just be reflecting the best of the UK but of Ukraine also.
Ok, this one definitely hurts. A legend, an extremely talented guy & such a caring soul.
Gutted at this news - love all his work & used to watch his show when I was younger - one of the reasons my Shih Tzu is named Buster, just like his was.

Proud and honoured to have been elected tonight as the Chair of Alsager Town Council for 2021-22.
Thank you to fellow councillors for placing their trust in me in what I believe will be a crucial year for the council and our town.

There are no all women shortlists now because there are a majority of women in the PLP - so keeping the policy for parliamentary selections would be a breach of the equality act. So you point about Eddie Izzard is just manufactured nonsense

So Keir Starmer didn’t pressure the Prime Minister at the last
#PMQs
then and Labour didn’t just spend the last week also getting people to write to their MPs to add on the pressure?
What a waste of 25 grand.
This money could have helped towards a lot of people rather than being donated to fund the legal case of a reasonably wealthy man.
Congleton has been let down by 13 years of Conservative chaos.
Congleton deserves a local MP who will be dedicated to representing all of its communities & delivering the fresh start they need.
That’s why I’m applying to be Labour’s next parliamentary candidate for Congleton.🌹
A Labour Party that doesn’t stand up for workers & in solidarity with unions fighting for better pay and conditions *in the middle of a cost of living crisis* isn’t a Labour Party.
The sacking of Sam Tarry requires a massive rethink by the leadership. A big and silly mistake.
No you won’t because:
1. It’s not clear what Brexit voters voted for in the referendum, a ‘soft’ or ‘hard Brexit’
2. Your progress has been painfully slow
3. Your cabinet can not agree which type of deal to pursue
4. No Brexit deal will be ‘smooth & orderly’

The guy also fails to recognise that the British Crime Survey isn’t always the best methodology, crimes can go unreported from the survey and not as many people are willing to express their experiences using it.

Absolutely. Fantastic achievements from 1997 to 2010. Yes, there were mistakes, no govt is perfect. But we should stop trashing our record.
@RosieDuffield1
With respect, I’m not advocating going back on women’s rights - LGBT+ & women’s rights are not in competition with each other or contradictory. I do care about women’s rights - my local party has done tons of work on period poverty & I do work as a White Ribbon Ambassador
@c_kennaugh
Women’s rights are not under threat from trans rights or any other LGBT+ rights. Extending equality to more people doesn’t take away from your own rights.
She liked a tweet that denied that trans people along with gay people were victims of holocaust.

Recently, my Nan on three separate visits to the hospital had three DNAR orders placed on her without prior knowledge or consent. She had to push to get them removed.
Reportedly under the new ‘Bill of Rights’ her consent and bodily autonomy would be completely ignored👇
The Conservatives are due to publish their Bill of Rights tomorrow to replace the Human Rights Act 1998.
One reported outcome will see patients NOT be able to object to Do Not Attempt Resuscitation (DNAR) orders placed on them by doctors.
Nobody can say they voted for this.

He was paired - it’s a system that allows for all sides not to be disadvantaged in numbers if an MP is ill or can’t make the vote. Senior MPs are usually paired with their opposition counterparts.
I believe Sunak couldn’t be there so therefore Starmer was paired & couldn’t vote
Withdrawal from Pride is not something I support - this is exactly the time we should be out at pride and amongst communities, not shying away.
As an LGBT+ officer & a pride organiser, we will not be withdrawing from any local prides regardless of any decision made nationally.
Exclusive: The LGBT wing of the Labour Party is actively considering withdrawing from all Pride events across the UK.
I understand this is due to what how Labour is currently viewed in the LGBT community. Members don't feel comfortable marching as Labour.
The pettiness of people accusing Burnham and Young Labour of somehow not wanting to help with the by-elections because they are holding an hour’s zoom call, as if that will make or break the by-election outcome & both aren’t possible in a day.

I am deeply concerned by reports of inappropriate sex education lessons in schools.
We are reviewing sex education guidance to make sure schools are not teaching content that is inappropriate, and schools should ensure they’re making content available to parents if requested.

One of the few achievements in sea of awful failures and decisions by David Cameron and his Government.
But a reminder that the vast majority of Conservative MPs 10 years ago voted against Gay/Equal Marriage - it only passed because it was overwhelmingly supported by Labour👇
I was the first centre-right leader in the world to take the initiative and pass gay marriage. It's one of the achievements of which I'm proudest. Read my article in today’s

Now you’re just talking nonsense - since when did anyone say anything about not ‘recognising’ biological sex.
But trans people exist and are firmly a part of the community.
Only 3% of the community describe it as LGB and exclude trans people - a vast minority.
Thank you to the 1,210 people who placed their trust in me but unfortunately I was 71 votes short. But not all bad, congratulations to Brian Drake - first Labour borough councillor in the town for 50 yrs, proud of the campaign I planned and ran. Next focus is Town Council.🌹

Only because of the outdated legal definition of rape. But are women just as capable of committing rape as men, and can legally guilty in aiding.

One of the safest Tory seats in the North West, Congleton could fall to Labour at the next election and the reactions show there is a massive need for change and a real alternative with Labour🌹
Watch pt 1 here & pt 2 below👇
The greens lost their deposit at the last election - I don’t see them doing any better on the new boundaries. To say they can win it is just delusional.
It’ll soon be easier to win as a Green MP than to be selected as a left wing Labour candidate.
Birkenhead is a winnable seat for
@TheGreenParty
.
Very unwise of Labour to deselect Whitley.
@garydunion
I do like Sam Tarry but that just isn’t correct. He was ousted by his members in a democratic process - one the left has championed for years.
Also worth noting that Tarry was an 11th hour parachuted candidate last time when Jas was stitched up before he was clearly going to win.
@sophielouisecc
He refused to answer because it’s a nonsense question - what those asking it on LBC fail to realise is that we aren’t dealing with hypotheticals - all-women shortlists for parliamentary selections are not the current policy of the Labour Party.
We deserve better than Fiona Bruce & the Conservatives.
We deserve an MP who will stand up for the people of Congleton & work to solve the cost of living crisis.
We can’t afford the Tories any longer

Hugely disrespectful from Rishi Sunak.
Shows he hasn’t got leadership qualities or any respect for Parliament.
And such a disrespectful move against what should have been a small amount of time to remember & celebrate the life of the first & only female speaker Betty Boothroyd.
Makes no sense whatsoever if indeed it is true that Labour has u-turned on providing free school meals for all primary school kids.
The policy is already one pushed previously by the party, is being implemented by the Welsh Labour Govt & advocated by many in the party & the NEU
I hope Christian Wakeford will embrace the move, change many of the damaging positions he has had previously and have a much better voting record from now on.

No objections to tourism advertising signs going up, or world flags during the olympics in 2012 or a art campaign installation. Just when it’s pride flags? I wonder why?….
I have struggled with this for years - all through my teens, and while I accepted it some time ago now, I’ve always been afraid of doing this & about what people might think. I’ve never really been open about it but sod it - here’s me being open about it (on Twitter at least).
