It’s my PhD graduation anniversary. I was 7 month pregnant at my defence. H and I got my PhD together. My scientific goals are influenced from motherhood experiences. Work hard and don’t compromise who you are. Science needs mothers and mothers need science. #WomenInSTEM

A fun read for those working so hard to figure out which RBPs drive RNA localization. Losing this RBP doesn't pump the brakes on localization, it steps on the gas.
Excited to share our latest work on how the RNA binding protein HNRNPA2B1 regulates RNA abundance and motor protein activity in neurites!

@arjunrajlab Yes! Very nice! I privately asked faculty in my department to help me practice and they made such a difference!

@arjunrajlab That's awesome. I've never seen a chalk talk (besides my own) so I can't say how helpful they are for the actual hiring. If it's true that the best research talks scale perfectly with the best chalk talks, then sure, they may be redundant. (But they don't have to be so scary!)

@arjunrajlab I think the problem is chalk talks are so secreteive. Post-docs have seen seminars, written papers/grants... but most have never seen a single chalk talk. If senior post-docs could attend chalk talks at their institution, I think a major hurdle would be significantly lowered.

@J_my_sci Hmm. That’s the only way I’ve done it. There are various perks depending on the experiment. Is there a reason to avoid the gel? FWIW cutting a band from the gel is easier and faster than a western blot

@J_my_sci We use Dynabeads. Elute simply by denaturing the whole reaction and loading in your gel. Yes your antibody will be in your sample, but it won’t matter for MS
