The added value in a single pitch’s effectiveness is often worth the difference in release point. But errrrrbody is afraid of this.
Kudos to you for putting this out there.
Good work.
Pitchers: You don't need to throw each pitch in your arsenal from the same release point to succeed!
2022 MLB data shows no relationship between release point "tunneling" and pitch effectiveness.
Instead, chase better pitch shapes and tunnel using release angles (VRA & HRA)

The development of Brody Brecht's fastball command doesn't get enough love. To finish the season,

threw his fastball for a strike 64.2% of the time in his last four starts (D1 avg = 62.6). This helped him close the year out with a 2.28 ERA in his final 23.2 innings.

Want to have better “command”? Try to be IN COMMAND 1st; in command of your mind/behaviors throughout your preparation & then pre-game & then in-game. Hard 2 exhibit command of the ball in game when you lack mindfulness in every other aspect of preparation. BE IN COMMAND FIRST!!

Kids throw pens & constantly criticize themselves/their buddies with “that’s gone”, “that’s a homer”, “cockshot”, “hanger”.
Next 4 pitches hit the bull.
Don’t give hitters too much credit. Hitting is really hard.
Be aggressive in the strike zone.
Strikes are super valuable.

Hey Pitcher A, here’s the truth. In order for YOU to be a quality big league pitcher, you’re going to have to improve SL location. An action step would be to increase usage. Perhaps you can do this is less consequential counts as the pitcher acquires some skill.
What if Pitcher A doesn’t throw his slider in-zone but you want him to throw it a lot?
Get ready for Pitcher A to be in a lot of 1-0 2-0 2-1 counts.
But every coach agrees that getting ahead in the count is the most important thing?

Think a good coach might be able to solve your problem. Celebrate the sh*t out of the outcome; hits aren’t easy to come by/hits to win a playoff game even more so. Layer in context/1 single SD score isn’t going to make/break a MiLB career; he’s seen far too many pitches, right?
I know a minor league player who got a negative swing decision score based on this following situation:
Outcome: Game winning hit in a playoff game.
Situation: RHH, slapped a base hit to right on a slider barely off the edge down/away with 2 outs, 2-strikes AFTER the umpired
